Last post about this

I told everyone that i got tore up by a pit on my route. Get my claim number from OWCP to see a hand surgeon and they will only accept a piece of paper by OWCP with my name and injury and promise of payment to see me! OWCP will not do that and the postal service is blowing snot because i can not come back to work till cleared by a hand surgeon! In the mean time i am drawing full wages and sitting on my ass, what a fucked up system!!!!!

1. I hadn't noticed any of your previous posts.

I wish you a full and speedy recovery, as well as Godspeed in navigating the bureaucracy.

3. I worked as a carrier between late '85 and early '87 before I transferred into Automated Mail...

... Processing Equipment Electronic Maintenance, where I worked for another 11 years until I retired. Got one dog bite (he paid the ultimate price, being tested for rabies) and one pit bull encounter. The pit jumped a backyard fence and came for me out front.

I had my regulation pepper spray in one hand and my NON-regulation 4"-blade gravity knife in the other hand (normally used to cut the plastic straps on bundles of Business Bulk Mail, "and for other purposes" ).

You were supposed to "feed the (shoulder-carried mail) bag to the dog" but I took security of the mail seriously and the pit was not authorized! So, spray.. back up.. dog rubs face in the grass, snarling, approaches me.. spray, back up.. rinse, repeat until I'd moved far enough away and the dog gave up.

I couple of blocks away I was talking to a lady as I was delivering her mail and mentioned the dog attack and she said, "OH, not that PIT bull?!"

The dog had a rep!...

4. I was a clerk, mail handler and now carrier

The spray did not work and i had to submit the dog with my scanner! I am a big dude and was able to handle the dog! A very good friend of mine is a female and only 90 pounds, this dog was only 15 pounds lighter than her! This is what gives me bad dreams at night!!!!

5. Wow guys, truly impressed. I have nothing but respect for our mailmen/women.

Kinda' still wanting 2 B 1. Then there's age, health, etc.

Right now I'm not capable of walking the kind of routes you guys do everyday.

Rain, sleet or snow is true.

Godspeed on your injury.

My job has pretty much same rules ... when I have a cold I have to present a note from Doctor.

Lucky to now have office 'yob', but principal has made hard decisions & situation changes frequently.

Been using this L-day as Holiday. Only now getting S.L.E.E.P. !

I have been into work everyday except the holiday.

Sytem does S*CK !
