Bought a Nutribullet today and would welcome any ideas for smoothies or juices.

I'm working to get more veggies and fruits down the man of the house. Can't wait to try it tomorrow!

1. Love mine.

You can put as much veggies in any smoothie as long as you include a banana.

Bananas tend to overpower most tastes and work well.

Peanut butter also does it.

We usually do kale, spinach, mango, chia seeds and half a banana.

2. I would suggest keeping it in the box

pretend it was a great idea and then sell it as new in a few months.

Saves the time and allows you to recoup some of your money after you figure out it is too much trouble to use the dang thing every day.

If you decide my advice is awful, just fill it with ice cream and chocolate and enjoy.

4. LOL.

In trying to decide what juicer or blender to get, he said, "Just get what's the easiest to clean."

7. I agree with that. I use mine and really like it. It seems like the taste changes on some fruits

and veggies when they get whipped into a foam. Or am I imagining it?

5. Baby spinach grinds up nicely and has no flavor in a smoothie.

You can stuff a couple big handfuls in there, also frozen cooked carrots work well. Or just nuke a fresh one a bit and let it cool.

My normal - good handful or two of berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries cran, cherry, whatever or mix - frozen works too), two big handfuls of spinach, handful of frozen diced carrots, 1/2 cup yogurt, a little fruit juice (tart cherry for me) or water or milk (sometimes I even use iced tea LOL) and some ice. If you need it a little sweeter use honey, maple, agave or hell just a spoonful of sugar. Vanilla yogurt is good too or just add a little extract.

Advice for those that don't have the best top quality blender: brush your teeth before going out in public.

8. Thank you, KAT.

I actually went out in public with a velcro roller in the back of my hair. Went to the post office, got back in my car, ran my hand through my hair and

6. I like to add coconut milk and cardamon to the fruits in

my smoothies. Coconut milk as a treat. You can get lite coconut milk too. Also get the woodland or wild blueberries. They taste better and are blue right through unlike the big cultivated ones which are sort of white on the inside. More dark colour, more nutrition.

9. That sounds delicious.

My favorite tea right now is Egyptian Licorice so I would probably love the cardamon.

11. That's weird - I just ran into an article about Nutribullets . . .

Anyways -

Idea #1 -

Read and follow the instructions of it's use VERY CAREFULLY.

There are numerous issues of serious injury, but PROPER usage should be quite safe.

I read about it on RT, but some have an aversion to that site, so here's a coupla links for ya . . .

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/nutribullet-explode-burn-blender-burn-user-face-tysha-stapleton-smoothies-juices-injuries-edited-a7617481.html

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4299418/Nutribullet-tells-customers-use-product-properly.html

From the dailymail link:

NutriBullet accuses customers of using the blender the WRONG way – after multiple complaints of shocking injuries from the exploding machines

NutriBullet has hit back at customers claiming they have suffered serious injuries
Customers have said the kitchen appliance has exploded while being used
Company said if the appliance is operated correctly there should be no issues
Told customers to follow manual which says no hot liquids can be put in blenders
Graphic images have shown scarred faces from alleged exploding NutriBullets

/snip/

It always amazes me at how few people really ever read the instructions on devices they own/purchase.

30+k for a vehicle, and rarely look at the owner's manual - well, except when they gotta figure out where the spare tire is and how to change it . . .

Enjoy your new kitchen helper

safely

12. Some of those recipes

they send with the bullet are nothing short of disgusting.

Well, the ones that come out green, anyway. Always looks like pond scum to me.

So here is what I would do. We love tomato soup here, so I would grind up various vegies like beets, carrots, onions, celery, tomatoes....whatever I had around....and then add it to tomato soup. It usually made enough for two days, so I didn't have to go through all that every day. Also, all sorts of vegies are great ground up like that and added to tomato sauce for spaghetti, etc. Not fond of kale, but I would throw some of that in as well.

Fruit smoothies were very tasty, as long as there was no green in it. Frozen berries of all types, bananas, apples (no seeds!), pineapple, cranberries.

13. I get a bags of frozen mixed berries

I'm always adding ginger banana and lemon, peels included
I throw a hand full of almonds
beets and carrots
Kale or arugula
Cinnamon and or cayenne pepper for some spice

When I'm am organized I will pre cut the bigger fruits and veggies and freeze them because they last longer and the drinks are cold.

I do add protein powder just in case.

14. all this "health" food talk, I use mine to make drinks!

I just use ours to blend fruit juices for small batches of wine I can make into Brandy . I also find it makes an excellent Bloody Mary and if you are into fruity things it make a great daiquiri Lime which is the original or strawberry if you like that sort of thing...... LIVE A LITTLE!
