Hands up/Don't Shoot Narrative totally False

DOJ Report States “Hands Up – Don’t Shoot” Narrative Was Completely False

Today the DOJ released their comprehensive finding report on the Mike Brown shooting. The DOJ Report states unequivocally the “Hands Up – Don’t Shoot” narrative was a completely false construct, but yet the media ran with it for months. Why? Here’s the report, and our previous overview of exactly how that ridiculous narrative was started.

Understanding The Origin Of The Mike Brown Narrative

When we first began digging in to the Mike Brown story something odd was immediately identifiable. The individual witness statements, when compared over time, were case studies in the evolution of self-contradiction.

But why ?

It’s generally a true statement that eye witnesses testimonials can often be unreliable; but the statements of the Canfield Greens apartment complex who immediately hit the New York media circuit were beyond unreliable – they were actually contradicting themselves from show to show, often within hours.

A little research into the shooting aftermath and things began to fall into place.

1. Individually for this case, maybe.

I interpreted it as a general statement about how the Ferguson police handled the public.

In that way, there may be some validity to the slogan.

I believe the Brown incident was a good shoot. I also believe that the Ferguson PD may have a long-standing practice of racial discrimination. The two beliefs are not mutually exclusive.

3. Spot on

Brown shooting was appropriate, but the idea that there are racists and liars on the Ferguson PD is also accurate as indicated both by the DOJ and the Missouri State Government's collection of racial incident data.

The Ferguson clown cops will now perhaps be scrutinized appropriately and their pathetic chief terminated for maintaining perjurers on the force for the last six years without any discipline of those officers whatsoever for their filing of false charge in the Davis case of 2009. The police created the powder keg and it was only a matter of time before it went off, I would have understood if the town burned to the ground six years ago for the Davis case...I'm less understanding of using Brown as the poster boy but I understand the long simmering discord between the citizens and the police.

6. The issue of how minorities are treated by the Ferguson Police Department is a

separate one and should not affect the Darren Wilson case. Officer Wilson cannot be held responsible for the entire police department. He is only responsible for himself and the investigation cleared him. But now due to false accusations his life is essentially ruined. He deserves an apology from the likes of Sharpton, but of course he won't get one.

Ignoring the deep-rooted racism uncovered in that report is a more serious mistake than mistaking a single incident.

26. And you think you and yours have it on this issue?

"Hands Up Don't Shoot" touched a nerve in the wider African American community. It happened because the Ferguson police were ACTIVELY ENGAGED in racial discrimination against the population they were supposed to protect and serve.

What I see is a bunch of racist losers on this board crowing about one limited case and discounting the deep pervasive nature of the discriminations faced by black people in Ferguson and many other communities across America. It is enabling the discriminations to continue and it's disgusting to watch. Yes, you are all ten years old and you can do what you want. Ha, ha! You crowing conservatives sure are showing the libtards how disgusting you can be when you want to be. Whooo, victory is yours.

Feh.

37. Agreed, but I disagree with your label

But the focus on the Mike Brown, and his perceived faults has allowed the force to avoid this much needed scrutiny. I disagree with the label of deep rooted racism, I think it is just a case of cultural inertia, and a hangover from a time of ACTUAL systemic racism. Either way it is time for a culture change, in this PD and in LEO altogether.

How can you have any sort of meaningful, and honest discussion of race relations with such people? It cannot be done.

Edit: My above statement is playing out right here in this thread. How very sad.

38. In this case, maybe/probably. But the reality is that "raising your hands" does little or nothing t

deter a cop from offing someone if they are so inclined (as many are).

The belief that if you meekly complying, even with your hands up, will insure your "safe" apprehension makes as much sense as believing that if you "stop resisting" while the cops beat you (all the while, screaming "STOP RESISTING"), the beating will stop.

Cops do whatever the fuck they want. Rules and laws mean nothing to them unless they can use them as weapons against people. To keep themselves in line - are you on drugs?
