Feds arrest felon after visit to gun range

http://www.guns.com/2015/05/17/feds-arrest-felon-after-visit-to-gun-range/

Federal agents arrested a Chicago man and felon after they learned of his recent visit to a gun range. Labor Spann, 36, faces federal gun charges for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the complaint, Spann visited the range Midwest Sporting Goods in Lyons, Illinois, on Sept 14 with two others where they rented a Glock 19 pistol. Allegedly, one of the individuals rented the Glock and proceeded to the firing line with Spann and the other person. Spann allegedly load ammo into a magazine, inserted it into the pistol and then shot at the target, emptying the magazine.

Spann then allegedly loaded additional magazines into the firearm twice and handed it to the others, who each shot at targets and emptied the magazines. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Chicago Police Department worked together investigating the incident.

If convicted of being a felon-in-possession of a firearm, Spann could be sentenced to a maximum 10 years in prison and a $250,000 maximum fine. Spann appeared before a federal judge last week and was ordered to remain in custody pending a detention hearing.

1. good, give him the works

Time to use the laws we have on the books..

Parole and probation officers need to be scouring the web for their charges breaking the law. Idiots are constantly posting on Twitter and FB their felonious habits.

6. Ditto...^^^

You would think that name would be easily searched...I can't find squat.
Not saying the article is false or true....but there's nothing in the article that references the original conviction.....that said if Spann is indeed a felon....I fully support the arrest. Need to do it more in Chiganistan

7. Too many convicted idiots think because they don't own the gun or guns

they can't be charged and convicted for the crime. In reality they can be. A local shooting range one time handed over its records to the cops. They make you fill out entrance forms and they make a copy of your ID. So convicted felons were recorded using rental guns at the range and over two dozen ended up getting charged.

If you are a convicted felon, you don't even want to be in the same room as a gun, even if it is locked in a safe. It will get you arrested.
