Dozens killed in Democratic Republic of Congo massacre

Dozens of people, including women and children, have been killed in Democratic Republic of Congo’s South Kivu province. The state’s governor blamed the attack on a dispute over cattle.

1. 6 million dead in congo since about 2000 due to civil war, big-power proxy war, neighbor war.

you're posting about a cattle dispute?

congo is probably the least-reported humanitarian crisis on the globe.

we don't hear about it because we're part of it, the killing is going on for our interests.

3. "The problem is that everyone in this area carries a weapon."

And by weapon, he doesn't mean baseball bat.

It's all connected.

When there are internal conflicts, or any conflicts, in Africa or Latin America, the consequence is always that the area is left awash in firearms, even after the conflict ends.

In this instance, the incident would simply never have occurred had it not been for those weapons. The governor knows whereof he speaks.

(Don't be paying attention to the dozen posts that will come along craying "Rwanda! Machetes!" The genocide in Rwanda also would not have occurred had there not been men with AK-47s behind the people with the machetes.)
