NARRATIVE FAIL: Orlando Islamic Terrorist Did NOT Use An AR-15

The anti-gun politimedia wasted no time at all demonizing the most common rifle in the United States as being the real villain of the Islamic terrorist attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

Newsweek screamed, “ORLANDO SHOOTING PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON AR-15 RIFLE.”

Judd Legume of Think Progress squeaked, “The NRA’s Love Affair With The AR-15, Weapon Of Choice For Mass Murderers, In 22 Tweets.”

... The rifle used by the Islamist terrorist in Orlando was instead a Sig Sauer MCX carbine, a modular, multi-caliber (able to swap to different calibers, including 5.56 NATO, 300 BLK, and 7.62×39) rifle system that sometimes utilizes STANAG magazines common to more than 60 different firearms, but otherwise has no major parts that interface with AR-15s in any way, shape or form.

http://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2016/06/13/narrative-fail-orlando-islamic-terrorist-use-ar-15/

It won't matter, they'll bray on about the AR-15 for a few more days at least.

These gun grabbing knobs in politics and the media couldn't tell an AR from an AK from a ham sandwich.

3. Well, see, we can agree on that

The press don't care though about details (I say this as someone who has built an ar-15 with my buddy and used to sell reloading dies for every type of ammo, worked at gun shows in nothern ohio, etc).

The problem with the press is details don't matter. Headlines sell clicks and ads.

Do you really think people care about calibers more than what something looks like and does?

They don't, anymore than some people care about how many sects of muslims there are and that most aren't crazy wack jobs.

they don't even care about basic facts if it conflicts with the preferred narrative.
Either way, sloppy journalism.

34. You are playing with semantics now.

They are both comparable weapons. Powerful and deadly. I seriously doubt the survivors are relieved to know they were shot with this weapon rather than an AR-15.

Nice try at deflecting from the real issue. The deadly nature with these types of seme-automatic weapons.

35. Comparable in that they fire the same caliber.

... 5.56 Nato. Not a "powerful" firearms compared to any common deer rifle and deadly only in the hands of a person with the will to use it so.

However, these two firearms fire the same, much larger, 50 cal

and this ...

Much more powerful and, in the right hands, equally deadly.

29. Assault Rifles are Selective fire (Semi-Automatic and Full Automatic or Burst fire Weapons)

Also you will never find a single source in the US Military that calls a M16 or M4 an Assault rifle, we simply do not use such drama queen terminology

the M16 is-
the US rifle, caliber 5.56mm, M16( or XM16E1, M16A1, M16A2, M16A4, M4, M4A1) is a gas operated, magazine fed air cooled shoulder weapon capable of selective fires by means of a selector lever

Assault Weapon (the Media LW invented name to fearmonger a Semi Automatic only rifle) is not an Assault rifle either

TBH bitching that this wasnt an AR-15 is slightly dishonest as its clearly a rifle which uses an AR-15 style upper and lower receiver, magazines, and accessories

6. This is a distinction without a difference...

Sig Sauer bills the MCX as "an innovative weapon system built around a battle-proven core." The company says it "stands as the first rifle to be silenced from the ground up. It also accepts a broad array of accessories, enabling you to build a complete weapon system for any scenario or environment." It has a military-spec trigger and a magazine capacity of 30 rounds.

According to the book Guns of Special Forces 2001-2015, the MCX is known in military circles as the "Black Mamba" and was developed at the request of the US Army's special operations forces.

45. I'm not crowing. I'm simply pointing out that details do matter.

And the MSM got this one very wrong. Why should I trust any of their reporting when they continue to describe the weapon as an "assault" weapon, and "automatic", and then get the wrong type altogether? If he had used a mini-14, would everyone still be demanding a return to the so-called assault weapons ban? If your answer is "yes" then you really aren't much of a student of politics.

I'll tell you what's unreal. The fact that the MSM, Hillary, and the President are all in twists over the weapon, but trying desperately to downplay the radical Islamic connection.

39. He appears to have chosen an excellent weapon

SIG SAUER developed the MCX rifle for America’s special forces. Their goal: a firearm that’s as quiet as an MP5, as deadly as an AK-47, and more modular than anything ever designed. Originally chambered in 300 AAC Blackout, SIG built the MCX to fill the same need that inspired AAC’s Honey Badger. I’ve been watching the SIG SAUER MCX come together for well over two years, from the first prototypes to the finished product. The military version is a useful firearm; even with a massive silencer attached, shooting in full-auto, the MCX is extremely controllable. It’s more like a big MP5 than anything else. My biggest concern: would SIG SAUER translate the mil spec masterpiece into a useful semi-automatic civilian model? They certainly started on the right foot . . .

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/10/foghorn/gun-review-sig-sauer-mcx/

Wonder whether he was firing 5.56 or the 300 AAC Blackout?

1. The shootings took place in one of those "Gun Free Zones" you hate so much.

2. The guy wielding the assault rifle was an ISIS wannabe.

3. The people he killed were homosexuals.
