3. duke did run in the democratic presidential promaries in 1988

but in 1989 he ran for, and won, a seat on the legislature as a republican. his presidential bid in 1992 was as a republican. he was a trump supporter in 2016.

4. I was stationed in SC when he ran in 1992

The GOP wanted no part of him and he couldn't get a hotel room in South Carolina.
Meanwhile, a Republican governor named David Beasley took down the Southern Cross from the capital building, and Fritz Hollings, the guy who put the flag there, to begin with, was a Democratic Senator.
Duke supported Trump, while Al Sharpton supported Hillary. There isn't that much difference between Duke and Sharpton. Both are bigots who divide people for fun and profit.

6. as a state legislator duke was marginalized by members of both parties

his most famous election, for governor in 1991, pitted him against our popular and charismatic 4 time governor edwin edwards. asked what it would take for duke to beat him ...

"they would have to catch me in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."

edwards just turned 90, has a 40 yo wife and a 4 yo son.

5. Duke is a denocrat, Robert Byrd party.

Duke knows that republicans freed the slaves and democrats fought tooth and nail against civil rights for blacks.
