FEMA Insists Containers Sitting In San Juan Port Aren't Filled With Aid

https://www.yahoo.com/news/fema-insists-containers-sitting-san-211637902.html

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló told CBS just two days ago that thousands of shipping containers with food, water and medicine are just sitting in the port of San Juan not being distributed. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is disputing those claims.

On Friday morning, Deputy FEMA Administrator Daniel Kaniewski told CNN that the containers in the San Juan port likely hold retail goods and not hurricane relief supplies.

“There are millions of meals and millions of liters of water that are on the island right now that are in the process of being distributed,” Kaniewski said during a live interview. “Now, we’ve seen video images of cargo containers sitting in the port. I can assure you that those are not FEMA containers. Those are retail goods that have probably been sitting there for days or weeks.”

“FEMA containers and commodities are going and have been received at regional distribution centers,” Kaniewski continued. “Those regional distribution centers then distribute it to the 78 municipalities” that make up Puerto Rico.

1. so you are saying that what they are filled with is not needed right now on the island?

Hmmm that is an interesting attitude.

I would believe that everything is needed on PR right now.

How much of the goods in those trailers is desperately needed by the people right now?

This reminds me of all the school buses that were left and allowed to be flooded in NO's when the locals were telling the world they had no way to leave and the local democrat mayor blaming that lack of transportation on everyone else.

2. Yeah, clothes from Victoria secret, video games, furniture are not a priority

over emergency supplies. Are you telling me they waste resources distributing non-essential aid that is someone else's property instead of the immediate need aid that is required? You must be a liberal.

3. No liberal, retired ranger who knows when to say screw it and get things done.

When people are massively suffering and some nasty deceases are about to start is one of those times.

There are walmarts on PR and I'm sure some of those trailers are full of walmart water and soda... that is how they are shipped.

How is it you know what is not in those containers?

For all you know there may be containers of batteries, flashlights, and first aid kits..... maybe even some hand held two way radios that are sold in local stores. I would bet that the local wally even sells generators there.

Many things could be in those containers.

4. I'll even go you one better every container is required to have a manifest that tells what is there.

So all they have to do is get a hold of the owner of the freight and get the manifests and they will know exactly where to go to find useful and necessary goods. There are manifests on the freight as well and another in files in the port someplace.

Anyone who has ever loaded or unloaded freight knows exactly what a manifest is and that they are required in many copies.

Or sit on your ass and die.

5. I tend to beleive that has already happened

The people running things are not stupid. If they had things there, they would be using them. My guess would be Halloween/Thanksgiving/Xmass stuff. It's the time it starts to show up.

It would be silly to ship bottled water there on a regular basis, most likely there are bottling plants on the island, though it is presumptively offline at this point.

6. Yeah they need patio furniture and lawn gnomes.

What a stupid post. You want to waste the limited fuel and damaged infrastructure to unload and process a bunch of containers with retail goods. How about you get critical supplies like food and water out before fulfilling amazon orders. Thank god trump is in charge of this and not you
