Trump owes Puerto Rico Money for his bankrupt hotel & golf course.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/chloesorvino/2017/03/20/puerto-rico-trump-bankruptcy-golf-course/?s=trending#7294c52c4bfe

I've heard ranges of debt from $30 M+ to Forbes' range at the high end of possibly $75 M, for his PR Boondoggle.

. . . . .

Again, he's a Narcissistic Sociopath, & like the Greek god Narcissist, he only sees his reflection in the pool of water he wades in to drown.

4. Yet his company managed it, into $78 M debt.

I know, corporations are all about Ltd Liability.

Funny how when it comes to things like Ltd. Liability, you can't limit the liability of either natural disasters or human tragedy.

8. Trumps company took over a failing course and was

unable to turn it around.

This is hardly even news.

6. The golf club failed before Trump got involved

It is true that he failed to turn it around.

This is more of a failure by the Puerto Rico government.

9. Did you read the post you linked to? No where in there does it say Trump owes anyone money.

do you believe in honesty and honorable exchange? or not??

I would say that you intended your post to be an outright and bold faced lie...

Trump was not an owner or investor in ether the resort or the golf facility.

One of his companies, not even Trump himself, was contracted to manage their golf facilities.

It really is better and much more honorable to tell the truth than to post these great big lies.

10. Great headline, lots of misinformation packed into so few words.

"Trump owes Puerto Rico Money... "
1. Trump doesn't owe Puerto Rico money for this.
2. The owner (Arturo Diaz Jr.) owed a lot of money, but likely not much, to Puerto Rico, probably some taxes, which should have been settled when it was sold.

"For his bankrupt hotel and golf course."
3. It's not his, he didn't build it or own it. It was failing when he started managing it, and failed to turn it around.
4. What hotel? I don't see anything about a hotel on any website or in any picture.

You crammed at least 3 lies, possibly more, into just 12 words. Nice work!

12. The claim is that Trump "bankrupted" the golf course.

WHAT'S TRUE

A Trump company was unable to save a floundering Puerto Rico golf club and resort from bankruptcy after entering into a management and brand licensing agreement with its owners in 2008. As a result of the episode, $32.6 million in government investment was not recouped.

So what's true is that Trump took over a floundering golf course and wasn't able to save it.

It says Trump didn't own the course, doesn't mention a hotel, and doesn't say that trump was responsible for the losses.

The reason I listed 4 things, but only listed "3 lies" was because I didn't know how much Puerto Rico was on the hook for the losses, which would have been the responsibility of the owner. The government's poor investment in the course isn't Trump's fault, nor would he be "on the hook" for it.

13. trump defaulted on $33M in peurto rican bonds

Last edited Wed Oct 4, 2017, 03:53 AM - Edit history (1)

they will never be paid due to the bankruptcy of trump international inc. the bonds are held by hedge funds (bought at discount) in which trump (through his various corporations) is an investor, so the peurto ricans owe trump the money that he borrowed from them.

16. There is no connection between your post and your link.

Please show me where in your link it says anything about "Trump defaulting on Puerto Rican bonds" or where the "peurto ricans owe trump the money that he borrowed from them".

Please note, when using snopes as a source, the only part that actually counts is the "what's true" part. You can't use the "claim" or the "origin" part as proof of anything if they don't actually say it's true.

What's True:
A Trump company was unable to save a floundering Puerto Rico golf club and resort from bankruptcy after entering into a management and brand licensing agreement with its owners in 2008. As a result of the episode, $32.6 million in government investment was not recouped.
