Microsoft Now Threatening to Drop Gab Social Network

"Microsoft has threatened to cease hosting services for the alt-right social network Gab over two anti-Semitic posts, according to an email published by Gab founder Andrew Torba. The email claims the posts violate Microsoft policy and requests that Gab “promptly take appropriate action to resolve the complaint…within two business days” or hosting service will be suspended. If Gab is forced off Azure, Torba says service “will go down for weeks/months” as the company secures a new provider."

1. Perhaps it is a good idea to have your own server.  ( n/t )

3. I think it is best to do both. With your own server you are not at the whim of liberals to exist.

Fighting censorship should happen every day.

20. Ridiculous.

Having a server that will be capable of dealing with the number of hits daily for a site this site is not possible unless you own the fucking serving farm. That's why you use already existing networks. The barriers to entry are now to high.

This is more corporatism, monopolism, and liberal totalitarianism.

11. This is EU type censorship allegedly based on " hate speech "

Except the US Supreme Court has ruled that there is no hate speech in 2017.

So, these internet platforms are full of shit.

6. I just went over there. All the posters think Gab should find another host. Microsoft has no

business being a host if they are not going to understand that the public has some bad feelings about things. The board is very different, more open than I have ever seen. To the point of being strictly non-oppressive about anything. I'll keep posting there until it's scratched. It's nice knowing you don't have to worry about every post you make.

7. But that's just the point Joe.

These big tech companies are corporate fascists.....they DO NOT WANT OPEN DISCUSSIONS !

This is turning into EU and Communist Chinese style censorship.

8. That's exactly what's happening and more and more people know it. I can't find the post Microsoft

is talking about. I know that GAB has a JEW heading, but there are no post there now. Like I have said for years now to both you and Gunslinger and the rest of our crew, many who are missing. The US of the future will be a horror story where it will be hard for anyone to live. That's if any of us are still here. All those rich people building underground shelters in Alaska and New Zealand (because of the earth underneath) know something they are not saying.

9. Just watched a Joe Rogen Youtube where they said that something called the Atlantic Council

is pushing heavily for censorship of US social media content.

Guess who is on this committee ?.......Michael Chertoff and Kissinger.

Wonder how all this ties into the massive stock loss FaceBook had a few weeks ago ?

Was this some kind of blackmail ?

19. Yes its censorship but via the owners of these corporations

Not the government. It's like if someone you invited to your house started talking a bunch of shit about you or your family and you told them to get out. You can tell them to leave your property.

29. Its censorship for sure but we all censor things in our lives

It's our right. Fascism as I understand it, is the government take over of industry. In this instance, industry is dictating their own policy. We may not like it, but that is freedom.

30. Other way around.

In Communism, government takes over industry. In Fascism, industry takes over the government or it at least aligns itself so severely that they work in tandem to control, manipulate, and overpower.

No, it is not freedom. It is corporatism. They have their cake and want to eat it too. If they are merely a platform for everyone, then all voices must be heard. The only reason for removal would simply be illegal behavior - actual illegal behavior and not bullshit like 'hate speech'. But because they are controlling the messaging on these platforms (an obvious leftist bias) and silencing dissenting voices, then they are actually publishers of content. And as such, they are guilty of false-advertising for the claim that they are an open platform for anyone. Additionally, as publishers, they should be held to standards of libel given their biases, shadowbans, and deplatforming.

They simply can't have it both ways any more not when more people receive their news, information, access to political content, and election material through social media.

The right does it too on a much smaller scale. I just want consistency. A level playing field for all media and social platforms.

34. It is apparent today that it is completely leftist

oriented when it comes to government collusion with corporatism. Look up Obama, Mike Warner, and Facebook and the bruhaha from 2015 through 2016 about controlled speech and terrorism.

I want an extension of the Bill of Rights in to the 21st century town square where it belongs.

Stormfront found a new host easy enough. There are other companies who will gladly take their money.

32. No one is required to read

any posts on any site. I don't consider many of the posts on DU or here to belong in a polite society. I also know that I'm under no obligation to read them. Just because I feel them to be impolite or guilty of an ism should they also be exiled to the dark web? People are free to feel, think, love, hate, vote, live, die as they like. Banning anything doesn't make it disappear.
