"2 US warplanes crash off Japan; 1 dead, 5 missing"

Hoping for the best for the 5 missing.

"It said an F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet and a KC-130 Hercules refueling aircraft collided during training at about 2 a.m. after taking off from their base in Iwakuni, near Hiroshima. The seven crew members included two in the F/A-18 and five in the KC-130."

1. Since when did a ''KC-130 Hercules refueling aircraft'' become known as a warplane like the F/A-18??

2. It probably should read "Military Aircraft" rather than warplanes but

I didn't write the headline and honestly I care more about the crews of the aircraft than how the AP wrote the headline.

3. Has anyone heard any update on the missing crew?

I haven't been able to find anything.
