Marijuana Is the Fastest-Growing Sector in The U.S. Job Market

The fastest-growing industry in the U.S. right now is not tech. It’s pot.

The marijuana industry added 64,389 jobs in 2018, an increase of 44% from the year before, according to a new report from the cannabis website Leafly and Whitney Economics.

There are now more than 211,000 legal cannabis jobs in the U.S. And that number jumps to 296,000 when indirect jobs (suppliers or independent contractors) and induced jobs (project or business financing) are included, according to the report.

Not impressed? Think about this: the number of legal marijuana jobs in the U.S. now surpasses coal mining (52,000), textile manufacturing (112,000), and brewery workers (69,000).

(Though recreational marijuana is legal in 10 states and medical marijuana is legal in 34, it’s still illegal at the federal level; so the Bureau of Labor Statistics does not track jobs for the sector.)

In our township, it is thriving and Leoni is quickly becoming the "grow-capital" of Michigan. Huge buildings are popping up out in the country and farmland. See article:

3. Michigan was a GOP controlled State until the last election and all the marijuana laws (medical and

recently recreational) were all approved overwhelming by the voters.

4. So, you blame the legislature for a referendum.

Typical for you.

11. It seems to be

a response to the first post claiming pot is a form of Democratic slavery.

Why would the very first poster bring up POLITICS in a thread about something that's no more horrible than booze or cigarettes?

If poster #1 can hurl that shit out everywhere, why can't the person you're replying to point out a fact?

sigh...

12. Thanks for piping in with nothing useful again.

Whether or not pot is a form of democrat slavery (I voted against it but defend it on 10A grounds) is arguable (I'll say "no") but that makes the calling out of the Michigan legislature by RussiaCan'tWin all the more inexplicable.

Literally, the GOP had nothing to do with it. He may as well have mentioned Moose Lodge #468 in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

Call anyone out

He mentioned a fact, you didn’t like it, and had to turn this whole thing pretty personal

Sad that some here have to do that. It’s a trick not everyone falls for

Don’t like the message, well then insult or demean the messenger. Yeah. OK

7. You should really try a nice indica dominant strain.

Sit back, relax and enjoy life instead of being so angry all the time.

10. About...

two weeks ago, a neighbor from up the hill stopped by to tell us that the town is thinking of selling some land right across the street from me to a pot farming facility. It will be natural light (meaning no lighting at night), fenced, with cameras and loaded with security, operating only in spring and summer.

If built there, we shouldn't be able to see it from our house, or even the road because of the trees.

Pot cultivation only...no selling. Maybe that would happen in the town center. Cool. The taxes here are pretty high for a little one-horse town. Anything that eases the tax burden for the residents here sounds OK.
