Drag Queen Story Hour at the Gerritsen Beach Library sparks outrage

New York State Sen. Andrew Gounardes took to Twitter today to accuse some his constituents of engaging in “hate speech.” The target of his smear was a group of concerned citizens in Brooklyn’s, Gerritsen Beach neighborhood who objected to their local library hosting Drag Queen Story Hour, an international organization dedicated to having drag queens tell stories to children.

1. This country is so fucked up

I do not see how we escape another Civil War. We are split right down the middle and the way we want to live is polar opposite of the other.

2. is it mandatory to send your kid to drag-queen storytime?

If it isn't, then they need to shut the fuck up.

Try telling one of them how to raise their kids and see what they think about it.
Hypocritical bigots.

3. Yes, mandatory. Schools send kids without parental notification

there is no way to "opt out."

4. well, if that is the case,

There should be a way to opt-out of field trips for whatever reason the parents feel the need to opt out for.
I'll look into that later.

5. Looks like all the kids are being held by parents in the photo.

Most would call that notification.

Righty just cannot mind his own business.

7. Convicted pedos have done the readings, I don't blame parents for protecting their kids

9. According to the article...

this particular event was held in a LIBRARY.

So yes...there IS a way to opt out.

If there's advance notice do not go to the library that day.

If no advance notice, take your kid and walk out. Nobody is going to force people (at gunpoint or under pain of arrest) to stay there.

If it's in a school, a simple note to the office saying you do not want your child to participate should suffice. If that doesn't work, take it up with the school board. If that doesn't work, take your argument to a news source.

Nobody can "force" those kids to attend.

6. So it's ''hate speech'' now to protest against having men in dresses tell stories...

8. I still don't understand....

...what legitimate purpose such 'readings' are designed to serve?

Are drag queens predisposed to better oratory skills or something I'm not aware of?

10. No, I think it is just another way

for Lefty "parents" to "feel good about themselves", which is, of course, the only reason a joyless liberal even gets up in the morning.

"Look at me! I took my child to the library to meet a just FABULOUS Drag Queen! I'm so "woke"! Little Kevin asked me to get "him/her/them" some nice dresses! I'm SO proud!!!"

14. Yeah, I agree.

I hate to see a guy in a pink shirt.
Not because of any "gay" thing, it just doesn't look right on a guy.

Have a good day, my friend!
