Ross Perot died. I served on one of his campaign groups. We held our meetings at this bar/nightclub

close to my house. Drinks were free, food was free and all kinds of people would get up to speak. I don't remember Perot ever coming but others who knew him well would.

2. In many ways Trump reminds me of Perot. ...

Of course Perot was not as obnoxious or egotistical. Trump was smart enough to hijack the Republican Party but that was probably impossible when Perot was running.

3. Perot wasn't obnoxious or egotistical?

You're joking, right?

He was a loon too.

I worked in IT and knew a lot of people who worked with/for him.

4. I do not remember him as obnoxious. ...

But then that memory is years old and I only seen him on TV as a candidate. All presidential candidates are to a degree egotistical.

Trump is in my opinion the most obnoxious and egotistical presidential candidate in my lifetime. However so far he is also the most effective president especially considering all the resistance he has faced.

I definitely feel that to this point he has been a far better president than Hillary would have been.

5. I thought Perot's voice and demeanor were pretty obnoxious.

My personal opinion on Trump is that he wants to MAGA more for his own ego than anything else but he's doing a pretty good job of it so that all Americans end up benefiting from it.

6. I thought Perot made a lot of sense. ...

Fir example I feel Ross was right about NAFTA when he called it a "giant sucking sound.” I also feel Trump makes a lot of sense with his efforts to create a fair world trade market where other nations don’t crap all over ours.

Obviously I am far more of a nationalist than a globalist.

7. Yeah, NAFTA was bad

Perot always cracked me up when he'd way oversimplify issues down with a bunch of 2-D graphs.

I'm not into trade wars but Trump kind of has to since so many former presidents just let globalists and other countries walk all over us for decades.

8. We try to act like the good guys. Nice cowboys in white hats. ...

So nice we allow other nations to take advance of us.

Nobody outside of our nation sees us that way.

Instead at the best they see us as The Good in “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

16. Arthur ''Bull'' Simons

who Perot hired was a member of the US 6th Ranger battalion in WW2 which infiltrated 30 miles behind Japanese lines in the Philippines to liberate POW's from Cabanatuan POW camp before the Japanese could execute the POW's
only 1 POW died (he had a heart attack 100 feet short of freedom as he was being carried by a Ranger on his back out the camp gate).

Simons also led the Son Tay raid of Green Berets into North Vietnam to rescue US POW's (the Mission was unsuccessful because the POW's had been moved)

When the Vietnam POW's were released Perot gave them a huge dinner and introduced them to the Green berets who tried to rescue them
