Over 17 tons of cocaine worth $1 billion seized at Philadelphia port

"PHILADELPHIA -- Federal authorities are continuing their investigation at the Packer Marine Terminal in Philadelphia after more than 17 tons of cocaine, with a street value of over $1 billion, was seized from a cargo ship on Tuesday."

"Authorities say they believe there may be several more shipping containers with cocaine inside, ABC News reports."

Story is from back in June but guess who owns the ship, JP Morgan

"The link between the MSC Gayane and JPMorgan may be the most surprising aspect of the drug bust."

"The MSC Gayane is operated by the Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Co., but JPMorgan helped finance MSC's purchase of the ship. The two reportedly structured the purchase so the ship was owned by client assets in a transportation strategy fund run for JPMorgan's asset-management arm."

"JPMorgan hasn't yet publicly addressed its association with the vessel, and it has declined to comment to Markets Insider."

4. So what is the point of your post?

Open borders had nothing to do with this seizure.

5. ''...shocker, NOT!''...was the obvious point of my post. Because when our ports are so understaffed

...with so many cargo containers coming that they can only randomly check out a few per day....really makes any sane thinking person wonder just how many other cargo containers out there that day also were loaded up with drugs...or worse???

The open borders comment was added to highlight the sheer stupidity of that concept here in the US. When we don't even know for sure what's going thru our few ports, we're going to open up the borders too???

And ''No shit...." was the reply because everyone knows "seized at Philadelphia port" means it came in a cargo container on a ship that floats on water etc...............

6. We are So Winning the war on drugs!

The cartel will surely stop trying to import drugs after that loss! It’s not like cocaine grows out of the ground and they have lots more to send this way. There losses were probably in the 100’s of dollars on this shipment in production costs.

I for one will sleep better tonight knowing our government is working hard to give drug dealers incentives to increase profits. Unemployment would be very high down below the border if the government ended the crusade against drugs.
