After voting to convict President Donald Trump in the Senate impeachment trial last week, the Republican Senate race has tightened.

A new poll from Mason-Dixon Polling and Strategy published in the Alabama Daily News on Wednesday shows former Attorney General Jeff Sessions narrowly leading current Democratic Sen. Doug Jones. The poll shows Sessions at 31 percent followed by former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville at 29 percent and Rep. Bradley Byrne at 17 percent on the Republican side.

The poll also showed Jones trailing Sessions, Tuberville and Byrne in hypothetical head-to-head match-ups.

In the hypothetical general election match-ups, Sessions beats Jones by 13 percentage points, while Tuberville and Byrne outpace Jones by 8 points and 9 points, respectively.

1. Sessions is desperate to get back on Trump's good side. I say, give him the

chance! He's a jerk, but will be OUR jerk!

4. None of us in bama want Roy Moore

Well, a few do, but most don’t. I wish he would go home and retire.

5. I didn't want him the last two times.

And I'm not so sure he ran when I voted the first time either. I'm on the extreme south end of the state. Getting booted out of office the first time wasn't enough learning for him I suppose. Embarrassment to this state much like our last governor who I actually did vote for. But yet people around here sure voted for good ol Roy Moore. Ha.

Then again it's the same bunch of people who won't vote in a lottery and will keep letting those dollars flow to neighboring states.

3. Sessions had his chance and blew it. He was weak and caved under pressure.

I'll never trust him again.
