Will this lead to calls for troops on the ground?

Washington (CNN) -- The former head of U.S. counterterror operations said Tuesday the "imminent threat" posed by an al Qaeda offshoot in Syria hasn't lessened after a U.S. air campaign there.

Speaking to CNN's Jim Sciutto, Matt Olsen said by his analysis the threat from the Khorasan group "is still in the same place as it was before" President Barack Obama ordered airstrikes against the terror operation last month.

Khorasan or ISIS, which one is worse or are they pretty much the same?

1. There have already been calls for troops on the ground.

Hell, some of the hawks have been saying we should never have gotten out.

2. No wars ever been won by Air power alone, simple fact

You can JDAM every individual ISIS member you see it will still take trained ground troops to winkle the remaining bastards out of their ratholes and either kill or capture them

4. The Saudis need to suit up. And the Iraqi army needs to fight instead of run as well. I do have

some sympathy for the Iraqi soldiers, up to a point. Yeah, we broke it but they'd best start helping to defend it or they're all going to be living under Sharia law and the 'whether you like it or not' will be for real.

6. No it wasnt actually

And the bombing was shown to be largely ineffective to serbian mobile forces, most of the Serbian tanks hit were plastic decoys and T-34/85's without engines. Serbian Army Tank stocks were mostly undamaged and mission capable. Serbia lost 3 actual mission capable tanks.

Norwegian SF was in Kosovo working with the KLA as was USSF (3/10)

11. Might as well cede the point.

I think Bombing their bridges is what convinced the people that they had far more to lose than they had to gain by backing Milosevic's aggression.

You simply can't argue with the results. No American soldiers lost. Dictator overthrown. Carnage ended.

I freely admit that I don't have a solution for Iraq and the Middle East. No one does. We've all read about the intersecting, seemingly impossible problems to solve. And this is why I don't want anymore of our soldiers getting blown up in THEIR conflict.

The American right thinks they're being clever by demanding that Obama send troops in but all this is accomplishing is causing the other countries in the region to wait and see if America gives in and fights their battle for them.

12. Is Biden calling for US troops on the ground now?

Yes or no?

Some on the right think full scale invasions are always the only choice.

They are wrong.

Btw ... Biden voted to let Bush decide if we had to invade Iraq. Bush alone decided to do it. All of congress allowed him that power.

And you supported it then. You loved Bush for doing it. Now you know it was a mistake, and want to spread the blame.

At least you now admit it was a mistake. That's growth.
