1. It's nice that the work of previous generations of equality advocates affords her this luxury

8. That's not relevant to her message.

So she is supposed to bow and scrape to every aspect of 'feminism' because women fought for equality over the last century?

She's not allowed to have an opinion about how that struggle has morphed into an anti-male, permanent victimhood agenda in some sectors of society?

You act as though she would not also have been fighting alongside all the women (and men) who fought for equal rights for women.

2. Thank you

The reasons she gave are exactly why I don't identify as a Feminist.

I'm a Humanist. Equal rights and responsibilities for all.

Feminists...do not tell me I'm "oppressed". Do not tell me I'm a "victim". Do not tell me this or that is "sexist" just because you think it is.

And I especially do not appreciate being told those things by women who are half my age, or at least young enough to be my own daughters.

7. I would expect

that they very likely may hate it.

Which is OK, and is their right.

What they don't have a right to do is to tell those of us who do agree with it that we are wrong. and they don't have the right to call men who agree with it "sexists".

Well, I suppose they can do it. As long as they don't expect to be taken seriously.

4. It is very difficult to defend the idea that feminism is about equality.

Judged by the self-stated goals of feminists, it is clearly not.

This can be proven through a simple experiment; "Feminists, has education in the US reached a state of equality?"

I can guarantee that few if any will respond, "No, because women are 50% more likely to graduate college than men"

10. Those twitter posts sound familiar

Think I have seen them on Du before.

"You don't agree that his shirt supports rape of women? You hate women and want to return to the 1600's mentality - if we can't shame and control others than feminism cannot succeed and women will never be allowed to move forward in this country! Misogyny!!!1! (It's like benghazi, but for feminists)"

Try pointing out that 'hey, maybe those models worked hard and wanted to be on that cover' and you are labeled, remembered, and followed about by the shaming circle. And then it is pointed out that those 'women' didn't really have a choice, were forced by society to pose, and if they had actual real choices they would have chosen to all be archaeologists working in a hot Peruvian jungle digging for the bones of spanish conquistadors (because, you know, no one wants attention for how they look or money. Except male models, they had choices and chose not to go to Peru).

13. Indeed.

I can't tell you how many conversations about prostitution and porn on there that pretty much devolved into that kind of thinking. A woman's choice is only valid if it is one comports with certain ideals. Any choice that involves physical beauty, sexuality, or that a man could gain any kind of gratification from (other than intellectual) are invalid.

14. here's something you could try

Don't cook things up and put them in quotation marks to convey the impression that someone else said them.

The quote does not exist on DU. It was pulled from his nether region.

She's also kinda hot. I know I'm objectifying here but, damn, she's cute. I like smart women who can think rationally.

17. The spider woman comic outrage was the set up...

...the fart rape was the punch line. That is how you know the outrage has jumped the shark.
