Washington Believes US Has Right to Produce Regime Change in Russia

http://sputniknews.com/radio_burning_point/20141209/1015669153.html

Excerpt: Washington seems to have set its mind on another regime change, this time - in Russia. What strategy is it going to use and what makes US policymakers think they could win? Radio Sputnik is discussing it with a well-known Italian political analyst and author Giullietto Chiesa.

“They don’t conceal it, that sanctions are aimed at creating social and economic conditions for carrying out regime change in Russia,” Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said, speaking at the State Duma hearing. Yet, pulling off a color revolution in Russia – is that a viable scenario?

Says Giullietto Chiesa, independent political analyst, based in Italy:

I don’t know if it is a realistic scenario, but it is clear that the assessment is realistic. That means that in Moscow it is now clear that the attack is straight against President Putin. And even if it is not clearly written, it is possible to read this kind of suggestions in the NY Times, in the Washington Post, in many newspapers and in many analyses which are published in the US. It means that it is a current idea that Russia should begin a fight to make a regime change. That means – there is a ‘dictatorship’ in Russia, Mr. Putin ‘is not representing the Russian people’ and Washington believes that they have the right to produce a regime change in Russia.

Well, in fact, not only in Russia, as we know, but they have already made just that in different situations, like in Libya, like Iraq, like Afghanistan. They did not always succeed in that, but, in any case, that is the idea – that the US has the right to produce a regime change in other countries. For Russia, it is evidently a very big task, because Russia is not Libya and it is not Iraq, it is evident. That means it will be a very difficult task for Washington, but it is another idea of the international system of rules. Now Washington believes that there is only one rule – the rule of Washington.

1. No

The US wants Russia to stay within her borders. Russia wants to return to her former glory, and standing as a superpower. In this respect President Putin has the support of the Russian people.

2. I agree with you in this regard.

The entire Ukraine Crisis is a US orchestrated coup and destabilization of Ukraine in order to draw Russia into a weakened position and make it another inflamed US vassal state. It won't work this time around and Putin is actually gaining more support due to the US's obvious manipulation. It is all backfiring.

3. President Putin

Understands the mindset of Russians and a lot of the people in the former USSR states. The Bear's return means a lot to some of the struggling countries like Kyrgyzstan,

9. Gads have you missed the entire Syria saga?

We want to contain Russia to it borders economically also. This goes beyond territory and land, it's an economic war over resources and the power those resources bring.

It's amazing how people are so fixated on borders and can't see the bigger picture which we are losing btw.

10. This is a hugely important seismic shift in geopolitical alliances.

It deserves a whole lot more exposure than it is getting.

Only Americans are so clueless, the rest of the world has a much better media than we do.

11. Some smart people know whats really going on.....

unfortunately, their voices are being suppressed by the sycophantic and deceptive US media which has long since lost any credibility. This video is of the former Canadian Ambassador to South Eastern Europe. He states openly that the whole Ukraine crisis is a US orchestrated effort to destabilize Russia. Voices like his are not making it into the mainstream debate due to the fact the media is conducting a massive coverup and propaganda campaign. #t=167

One would figure that the American people would not like being lied to, as propaganda is, frankly, "Unamerican", however, it seems that the deep set Russiaphobia of US citizens is trumping their own common sense and better self-interest. After all, it is the same 1%, MIC and NeoCons that are leading them down this path of self destruction.......one that could end in WW3 and the deaths of us all.
