Judicial Watch: Obama Administration Knew About Email Issue in 2013 and Covered it Up

Judicial Watch today released 113 pages of new State Department documents, revealing that in early August 2013, top State Department officials raised questions about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails and the number of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests seeking information about them.

According to the newly obtained emails, in August 2013, State Department officials were aware of 17 FOIA requests relating to requests for Clinton correspondence, including four that “specifically mention Emails or Email accounts.” Despite the large number of FOIA requests and growing concern among top agency officials, the State Department did not formally request that the former secretary of state produce the emails on the clintonemail.com server until October 2014.

Included among the 17 FOIA requests was a Judicial Watch lawsuit seeking records pertaining to possible conflicts of interest between the actions taken by Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State and Bill Clinton’s activities. The lawsuit produced 276 pages of internal State Department records revealing that within two days of the deadly terrorist attack on Benghazi, Mohamed Yusuf al-Magariaf, the president of Libya’s National Congress, asked to participate in a Clinton Global Initiative function and “meet President Clinton.” The records also show Hillary Clinton’s staff coordinated with the Clinton Foundation’s staff to have her thank Clinton Global Initiative project sponsors for their “commitments” during a Foundation speech on September 25, 2009. The lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Dept. of State (No. 1:13-cv-00772)) was filed on May 28, 2013

...

“These new emails suggest that the Obama State Department knew about the Clinton email problem at least three years but covered it up,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Any criminal investigation of the Clinton email scandal must include officials in the Obama administration.”

1. But it wasn't an "issue" or a problem back then...

just as it isn't now. You guys are just wasting time and effort (and my tax dollars) trying to make an issue out of nothing.

She probably tore off some of those "Do Not Remove..." tags from her blankets, made an illegal U-turn, or other horrible crime, too.

The point is that nothing bad happened because of this. National security was not compromised, no matter how much you wish it was.

2. Yeah, they twisted the words nicely to bait people

“These new emails suggest that the Obama State Department knew about the Clinton email problem"

But that doesn't actually say anything, it just throws in the word 'problem'. And folks will, as usual, lap it up without thinking because critical thinking just isn't a skill many don't seem to have (or, more to the point, don't want - ignorance by desire plays a lot into beliefs).

3. Aw jeeze. The supporters of Her Heinous can justify any damn lie this woman

and her enablers tell. YES it is a big deal and all the whiny denial in the world isn't going to cover this bullshit up. And the claim that it wasn't a big deal back then is HILL-ARY-OUS. It wasn't a big deal because the Obama administration and the Clinton Cabal were doing their best to keep the graft covered up. The more that comes out the tighter the election is? Do you not see a correlation? Probably not.

It makes me sick that Trump is the alternative to the Clinton creature. He's not any better. Definitely not any worse. Babies aren't drowning to death on the beaches trying to escape his ME policy of destabilization and bombs. Neither one has any concept of what telling the truth actually means But considering the two 'candidates' we're talking about, it is understood that if they DID tell the truth about themselves they'd be (metaphorically) tarred and feathered in the disgrace as they so richly deserve.

Historian Will Durant said the average life span of any empire is about 200 years and then the rot sets in. It started with Nixon. The neo-liberal 'Democrats' are just the stake in the heart of this country. The Hill-arians had the gall to say that Sanders wasn't a Democrat. He's WAS a far better democrat than anything we've seen the party shit out since Carter.

This is the election from Hell. Rod Serling couldn't have scripted a better story.

4. Judicial Watch is a right-wing il-legal organization that files frivolous lawsuits. Anything that

comes out of it should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

5. Right...

US Citizens managed to get an official FOIA process implemented in our government, so we could have more transparency.

But yeah, let's never believe anyone that uses the FOIA process. Why do we even have it, again?
