DACA recipients detained at U.S. border patrol checkpoint

Several suspected DACA recipients were detained at a U.S. border crossing on Monday, although people with that status remain in the country legally for six months after the Trump administration announced the program would be phased out.

According to Valley Central, at least one of the people detained has been released. The incident occurred at the Falfurrias checkpoint in Texas, about 85 miles north of the border between McAllen, Tex. and Reynosa, Mexico.

According to that 28-year-old’s lawyer, Elba Rocha, her client was detained while traveling to Corpus Christi for work. Two other people, who were U.S. citizens, were released. The DACA recipient, who has not been identified by name, was allegedly held for seven hours, according to Channel 5 News. During that time, the recipient’s address was verified in a background check, and finger prints were taken.

DACA, which stand for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is an immigration program allowing people who were brought to the U.S. as minors to live and work legally in the U.S. It began under the Obama administration in 2012, but last week the Trump administration announced the program was being phased out over the next six months. Congress must act to solidify the program with legislation before March, or recipients will no longer remain in the U.S.

3. Pictures fingerprints everything.

I want a hair and blood sample. Put a tracking device on him and shove some sort of X ray camera up his ass to see if there's drugs in there.

Then you can let him go but track his every move and when his 6 months are up deport him.

Also I want those things in the movie Escape From New York lodged in his neck so if he disappears they blow up.

4. This working 28 year old, innocent child shouldn't be held responsible for the actions of

his illegal alien parents. Think of the children.

6. This detention is a sign of Trump's America's slide down the slippery slope towards fascism. It's

not the detainee's fault he/she is in this country undocumented. He/she didn't run away from home as a kid and cross the border. He/she was brought here by his/her parents at a young age. And he/she is entitled to the civil and human rights anyone else in America would enjoy.-

7. "He/she was brought here by his/her parents at a young age."

He/she could have gone home and came back the LEGAL way, but he/she decided not to.

He/she can't expect special treatment.

Until they can prove they are American citizens, they don't belong here.

Go home and do it the right way, just like generations of LEGAL immigrants before he/she have done.
