Year One List: 81 major Trump achievements, 11 Obama legacy items repealed

With the passage of the GOP tax bill this week, the Trump administration has scored 81 major achievements in its first year, making good on campaign promises to provide significant tax cuts, boost U.S. energy production, and restore respect to the United States, according to the White House.

And along the way, President Trump even outdid his own expectations and slashed at least 11 major legacy items of former President Barack Obama, including cracking down on the open border, slowing recognition of communist Cuba and effectively killing Obamacare by ending the mandate that everyone have health insurance or face a tax.

Below are the 12 categories and 81 wins cited by the White House.

1. Jobs and the economy

Passage of the tax reform bill providing $5.5 billion in cuts and repealing the Obamacare mandate.
Increase of the GDP above 3 percent.
Creation of 1.7 million new jobs, cutting unemployment to 4.1 percent.
Saw the Dow Jones reach record highs.
A rebound in economic confidence to a 17-year high.
A new executive order to boost apprenticeships.
A move to boost computer sciences in Education Department programs.
Prioritizing women-owned businesses for some $500 million in SBA loans.
Killing job-stifling regulations
Signed an Executive Order demanding that two regulations be killed for every new one creates. He beat that big and cut 16 rules and regulations for every one created, saving $8.1 billion.
Signed 15 congressional regulatory cuts.
Withdrew from the Obama-era Paris Climate Agreement, ending the threat of environmental regulations.
Signed an Executive Order cutting the time for infrastructure permit approvals.
Eliminated an Obama rule on streams that Trump felt unfairly targeted the coal industry.

1. Any of these accomplishments done via executive order are but a pen stroke away

from disappearing under a future administration.

No angst or anger on my part.

3. Many of Trump's EOs were the very thing you described applied to Obama's EOs.

Trump merely returned us to the status quo ante. Renewing the cycle would prove unsettling to the economy as economies require a solid basis for long term decision making.

Though I have my doubts the Left would do well to resist such petulance.

8. Very true

but it bears remembering that EO's are very easy to get rid of at any point in the future.

I am not a big fan of their use by any president to make policy for that very reason.

Governing by executive order in my opinion is the president conceding that they don't have the political capitol or support to do things in a more permanent and meaningful way.

4. Yawn. OK ... Greatest President ever.

Better than Washington.
Smarter than Jefferson.
More steadfast than Lincoln.
More transformative than FDR.
Fatter than Taft. No, wait. Not yet ... (but soon.)

So here's an idea. Why not just establish a new religion? The Church of Trump.

Then ALL of this bullshit can get the fuck out of my government, and the crew can just burn a candle to Trump on his birthday.

Hell, maybe even put up a Trumpmas tree.

5. Top 10 - and the respect we show is NOTHING compare to he obozo felatio-fest lefty put on for 8 yrs

Talk about worship!

You get a 1/2 white puppet with strings tied to Soros and whose wife was one of the least gracious and ugliest 1st ladies ever and lefty tried to make it into THE church. And played the (now wornout) racism card when peope refused to worship alongside.

Only muslims are more rabid.

10. You demonstrate for us another example of an error in logic, the "ALL or nothing" mistake...

Though truth is sometimes a matter of black or white, much more often it ranges through a whole spectrum of colors. One catches a train or fails to catch it. An electric light is on, or it is off. On the other hand, a government will never be simply "good" or "bad," for here the range of possible variations is infinite. Where a situation requires a relative judgment, it is a fallacy to wrap up a judgment on it into one hasty bundle labeled All or Nothing, Good or Bad, Blameworthy or Blameless. This kind of thinking peoples the mind with simple heroes and villains instead of characters that are true to life.

The all-or-nothing mistake assumes a naked dichotomy where no such simplification is warranted. Mr. Justice Frankfurter has called this "the great either-or." For example, an office holder may declare that others must either favor his policies or oppose them. This position overlooks the possibility of indifference as well as favoring some policies and opposing others. The assumption that there is no middle ground is a favorite weapon of persons desiring to force others to take sides in black-white terms even though the problem is not simple and though its fair solution requires an evaluation of several possibilities.

18. "There's a slight chance you might amuse me, Mr. Hill."

As long as we're going all pop culture here:

https://www.springfieldspringfield.co.uk/view_episode_scripts.php?tv-show=the-royals-2015&episode=s02e02

Granted, *Goodfellas* is superior to *The Royals*, but, as TV series go, *The Royals* is not awful.

19. Among my favorite British programmes (heh) is, or are two series': Yes, Minister and...

... Yes, Prime Minister.

A quote from the latter, episode titled: The Skeleton in the Cupboard

Sir Humphrey: "Minister, I think there is something you perhaps ought to know."

Jim Hacker: "Yes Humphrey?"

Sir Humphrey: "The identity of the Official whose alleged responsibility for this hypothetical oversight has been the subject of recent discussion, is NOT shrouded in quite such impenetrable obscurity as certain previous disclosures may have led you to assume, but not to put too fine a point on it, the individual in question is, it may surprise you to learn, one whom you present interlocutor is in the habit of defining by means of the perpendicular pronoun."

Jim Hacker: "I beg your pardon?"

Sir Humphrey: "It was...I."

20. Yes, obfuscation is the universal language of politicians who have befouled themselves.

"Perpendicular pronoun." I must contrive a way to work that into some conversation or other.

I've seen a few episodes of *Yes, Prime Minister*, but not recently. I liked them, too.
