Imagine a country refusing Haitian immigants, what a racist thing they do in Canada.

https://www.thestar.com/news/immigration/2017/11/22/immigration-minister-warns-haitian-border-crossers-that-canada-will-probably-reject-them.html

"With another influx of Haitian refugees from the U.S. in sight, Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen is warning that Canada is not a viable option for them — and data released Wednesday by Ottawa backs him up on that.

The federal government has been on high alert since the Trump administration announced this week it will end its temporary residency permit program that has allowed 60,000 Haitians to stay in the United States. Haitian migrants have until July 2019 to return to their country."

“Coming to Canada first of all has to be done through regular channels, and secondly the asylum system is only for people who are in genuine need of protection,” Hussen told reporters. “It’s not for everyone.”

1. Yeah I think it was Pierre Trudeau who said Haiti was a shithole.

And that was the influencing factor in Canada's immigration policy vis-a-vis Haiti.

5. Trump denied he used that "specific" word. I trust him over anyone else

Sounds to me like someone "para-phrased" what was said.

Produce the recording and I'll believe it. Until then, it's another smear.

8. Well that's a twist. Everyone and their brother is defending his use of the word-applauding it even.

This is the first denial I've seen.

11. Yeah I'll stand by what I said. If he didn't say it, why are people applauding his saying it?

12. Because sometimes a shithole is a shithole. No one is applauding it.

How come liberals demand proof when something happens to one of their own, yet believe with all their hearts Trump said what he said he didn't because "someone" said he did?

Trump hatred is all consuming for the left. I love drinking the liberal tears.

13. I'm not a liberal. Keep drinking those tears but keep an eye on your sodium level.

Your claim no one is applauding it here is fucking hilarious.

2. Up here in BC, I have met a number of immigrants from Haiti

So, no, Canada doesn't unilaterally reject immigrants from Haiti. They are trying to address the flood of Haitians coming from the US claiming refugee status.

Canada has a welcoming, but very regulated, immigration process. Per capita, Canada takes more immigrants, and refugees and asylum seekers than the US.

3. Do you agree that sovereign countries have the right to

regulate and thus establish criteria and limits on immigration? Or do you agree with the open borders sentiment that people should be able to travel and reside unimpeded across countries?

4. You mean they don't have an open borders policy and actually expect immigrants to

contribute to society rather than live off it?

6. Yes, other countries can do that. The U.S., however, can't, because we're racist or something. n/t
