1. Having lived in Jersey for close to

fifty years I can attest that large parts of Newark are worse than sh*t holes.

5. Ever been to Newark? I lived for close to 10 years on the Newark/Elizabeth border...

a couple of blocks from the old Cookie Factory.

My neighborhood was largely Brazilian, with great people and the best barbecue you can imagine. My next door neighbor was an Egyptian, and the Ironbound was almost totally Hispanic with a festival every night and more fantastic food.

Bad areas? Sure. Crime, some. Like any American urban area. But, most places we did not cringe in fear. We did not need or demand guns to protect ourselves.

Our Brazilian, Argentinian, Peruvian, Salvadoran, and other new neighbors were full of hope and hard work making it in their new home, and did not have time to bitch and moan about people half a continent away that they didn't know.

6. A couple decades ago I went to a gathering of the top two students of every high school in NJ.

About 1/3 white, 1/3 South Asian, and 1/3 East Asian. Not many Blacks and Hispanics at all.
