California has worst 'quality of life' in US, study says

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/03/01/california-has-worst-quality-life-in-us-study-says.html

California ranks dead last among U.S. states in quality of life, according to a study by U.S. News, ranking behind New Jersey (49th) and Indiana (48th).

The ignominious honor reflects California's low marks in the sub-categories of environmental quality and social engagement. The latter category measures voting participation and community bonds.

Californians scored poorly in part because they're simply insufferable, U.S. News suggested.

"In addition to a healthy environment, a person's quality of life is largely a result of their interactions with those around them," the magazine wrote in a blurb accompanying the results.

3. Generalizations always make me laugh.

I live in the middle of the San Bernardino National Forest, at 7,000 feet. I have a lake, NO smog, and a forest with a limitless supply of protein should TSHTF. I drive 1.3 miles to work. One stop sign and one traffic light between my driveway and my parking spot. If I see three cars on my way to work at 5:30 a.m., I consider it a traffic jam. No light pollution because there's no smog or haze for the light to reflect off of, so the stars at night are so numerous they're breathtaking. And though we have 300 days of sunshine up here on average, they're forecasting a foot of heavy wet snow between now and Saturday.

California is different things to different people.

12. There certainly was a flood of them moving to Colorado in the 80s and 90s

The local radio stations would warn people to stay off the roads during the first snowfall because the CA idiots didn't know how to drive on snow.

5. Can't speak for anyone else but I love living In Cali

I was born in New York state, lived in Virginia and Minnesota and now San Diego. I don't ever plan to leave. My house is worth double what I paid for it, if I wanted to sell, the state's economy is booming, this year we might pass the United Kingdom to become the world's fifth largest economy. (CA=$2.44 trillion/UK=$2.6 trillion) The State runs a $6 billion annual budget surplus and has $8 billion socked away (by law) in a rainy day fund.
Without leaving San Diego County, I love being able to cross-country ski in the mountains in the morning, hike in the desert in the afternoon and surf in the ocean at dusk. Then have a lobster dinner in Mexico!
I have great friends, a wonderful job and a loving family; what's not to like?
But if this study helps keep more people from moving here, that's a good thing! I admit that California can be awful if you're poor but if you make a decent living, to me, its pretty great.
Finally, my city and county have the lowest crime rates in the nation of any city of over a million residents and county of over 2 million residents. San Diego had 34 homicides last year and 9 of them were murder-suicides.

7. I know you realize it but choose to close your eyes but Californias true financial condition is well

known and it is not rosy.

Their pension liabilities far exceed the smoke and mirrors surplus they claim.

9. Coronado? Oh.... my... freakin'... god.

The Hotel Del is the absolute pits! A crappy beach, 3rd rate restaurants, haunted rooms, no history....yuk!

Any Con worthy of the label who was unknowingly booked there would quickly upgrade to a Motel 6.
