Monthly budget deficit worst in six years

http://money.cnn.com/2018/03/12/news/economy/budget-deficit/index.html

"Last month, the federal government spent roughly $371 billion, up $7 billion from February 2017. Tax receipts, meanwhile, fell to $156 billion from $172 billion a year earlier.

Interest payments on the nation's debt, Social Security and Medicare, and outlays by the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense, are the areas where spending has gone up the most, according to the Congressional Budget Office."

Fucking barry never took responsibility for one thing.

When a new CEO takes over a company do they get to say all of the problems are the last persons fault and I'm not going to deal with them?
Hell no

You take the job you accept responsibility for dealing with whatever problems you inherit.
Trump is a business man he knows the drill.

15. Did anypart of anything posted by me say that Trump was not going to deal with it?

No,I correctly remarked that since part of the increase was due to interest on the debt then Obungles adding 9 trillion to it is to be acknowledged.

You on the other hand decided to chirp up with well he isn`t president now.
No shit,so what?

why should it be in government?

Trump sets the agenda now and has to deal with the situation as it exists, that was my point Carl.

Trump is in charge, he is responsible now

"Then I guess I can presume"
Presumption more often makes the one doing it look like a fool so be my guest

The rest of your post doesn't even make sense:
"your sudden deficit hawkishness while falling all over yourself to ignore what the article states is part of it is phony.."

My point was, and still is, that your little temper tantrum saying it is the previous administrations fault is pointless and doesn't change the fact the problems are Trumps to deal with now.

28. Your own words create the impression.

If you really thought deficits were a bad thing (what the article is attacking Trump on) you could have had the honesty of accepting the fact of what I said.
Interest payments on the debt are part of why they are up and a really big part of that is 100% on barry.

Instead you ran in to the child kings defense whining "but but but Trump is President now."
Yeah,he is and has to contend with that mess but it does not change the facts which you were hell bent to ignore or pretend were not valid.

I somehow doubt that at any time when a dem between 2009 and 2017 screamed BUSH!!!!! you were anywhere around to point out that O was President.
That happens now so if you did lecture a poster here regarding that you should be able to link to it and I will applaud you for it.

Have at it.

33. Pathetic Carl

I hate deficit spending but it is a necessary evil at this point.

You were the one that ran to the "it's all barry's fault" excuse right out of the chute.
That fact is the ONLY reason I replied at all.

You can't even seem to make a cognizant and logical argument: "really big part of that is 100% on barry."
Is a "really big part of it" barry's fault or is it "100%" barry's fault because it is impossible for both of those arguments to be true at the same time.

And by the way isn't it CONGRESS that controls spending, not the executive branch?
How then can all of the blame for deficit spending be laid on the back of one man when it took both houses of congress to approve appropriations that caused the deficit spending?

34. I was responding to the implications put forward in the article posted as the OP.

To point out that the article was griping about a situation that it admits was in part the result of the previous Administration simply points out the disingenuous agenda of both the author of the article as well as the OP here.

Nothing more.

You however continue to pretzel yourself to try to excuse that raw fact.

Independent mind my ass.

Just read the post that I am responding to where you are the one trying to desperately absolve O of any responsibility.
You fool no one.

30. You of all people are the last to whine about that.

Hypocrite much?

But just to see if you actually have the ability to engage I will ask you since you jumped in face first.

How is it a deflection to point out the fact, when an article is fussing about a higher deficit that it says is in part due to interest on the national debt, that the previous administration added 9 trillion to that figure?

If you endorse the article you should be embarrassed by that fact.

It's not as if trickle-down is an untried idea.

Last month, the government brought in 42% of what it spent. About one-third of that deficit is due to Trump and the GOP.

Start with disability fraud, and any and all funding for illegal aliens, and education for their illegal children. then move down the list systematically.

17. Tax Cuts...

have only been in place for a couple of months. Takes a little longer for corporations and business to create added revenue to pay for the tax cuts. There are two ways to build government revenue. You can raise taxes on a static economy or grow the economy using lower taxes as a tool for growth, thereby increasing revenue through volume.

41. How can honesty factor in to a hypothetical?

You asked a hypothetical question about Holder and Lynch, what they MIGHT have done or not done. Now the congressional Republicans DID introduce and pass congressional resolutions calling on Attorney General Holder to appoint Special Counsels for Fast and Furious and for the IRS targetting of Tea Party groups (he refused). Also two Republican Senators wanted Loretta Lynch to appoint a Special Counsel for Hillary Clinton's e-mails (Lynch refused) but none of those resolutions or requests had anything to do with President Obama which is what we were discussing.

In this thread we are looking at the actual data from the Trump treasury department, the amount of increase in the national debt and the year-to-year increase in the monthly budget deficit. The numbers speak for themselves as long as they are honestly being reported.
The Trump treasury department is projecting a 31.3% increase in the deficit for the current fiscal year which ends October 1st. You can't pay down the debt until you eliminate the deficit.

38. Republicans won't be able to campaign on reducing the debt & deficit

"For the first five months of this budget year, the deficit totals $391 billion, an increase of 11.5 percent from the same period a year ago. President Donald Trump’s new budget projects this year’s deficit will hit $873 billion, up a sharp 31.3 percent from last year’s imbalance of $665.8 billion.

Over the next decade, Trump’s budget projects deficits will total $7.1 trillion. That is more than double the $3.2 trillion in deficits over the coming decade that Trump had envisioned in the budget he sent Congress last year. The deficit picture has darkened in part because of the $1.5 trillion in tax cuts Trump pushed through Congress in December."
https://apnews.com/51a783173cf74f1dad3d0ba0815a09e4/US-budget-deficit-jumped-to-$215.2-billion-in-February

The numbers and projections come from the Trump Treasury Department
