OK, let's speculate on who we'd like to see nominated.

Please state why you favor the name you have in mind.

Personally I'd like to see a true Constitutional Scholar. Not Left or Right, but a real student of the Constitution, the Framers, and what their intent was.

The name that keeps popping into my mind is Ted Olsen. The man is legally brilliant and one of the straightest shooters out there.

Kryptonite against modern day leftist nonsense, in other words.

4. I would like to see a moderate to keep the balance.

My dream court is a 3-3-3 or even 2-5-2 with no overt party/ ideological control of the SCOTUS.

Gorsuch was a good replacement for a Conservative Scallia.

6. For me it's not about left, right, or middle

I'm looking for Justice's to get inside Thomas Jefferson's, Adams, et al head and try to ascertain how they would have seen it.

9. I would love Justices delving back into the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers

Leafing through the Constitutions of the 13 original colonies, and debating how Hamilton or Adams would handle this..

Even the Founders had major disagreements over what they were doing here, and how to keep it going. I want everyone to have a voice in our system, even those I disagree with.

10. Indeed

it seems some judges have been confounded by things like, "Shall not be infringed"....

It would be great to have judges who understand those four words.

13. I'd really, REALLY

Like to stay away from someone who has ever ran or held elective office on the bench. Also I'd like to keep away from anyone who made their name as an "activist" of any kind.

18. To me

It means they are highly motivated by public opinion and approval, instead of the Law and how it is written. I'd like to see Justices above those concerns.

21. I am not so sure...

Gowdy is in a solid district. He never seemed to waver in the politics he practiced, Not sure. Polls werent much of a thought with him. In the end, Constitutional law is decidedly conservative in nature. We have gone too long with justices seeking shades of gray and tok few wanted the issue to be painted black or white. Those stark contrasts are often what is needed. Unfortunately, our country has gotten to the point where ethical and legal common sense is an enigma due to the decisions of the courts.

22. Bottom line for me is...

I am very opinionated, I'll admit it. Nevertheless for too long the President has always looked to appoint a Justice to advance their particular legislative agenda, rather than apply the Constitution. That how we got all these "Living Document" loons.

25. Hes 77! Could be 79 when confirmed.

I will ask my son. HIs fiance works at the federalist and he knows of a lot of Justices who rule according to the constitution as written.

He is working for a law firm now, but next September will spend 2 years clerking for a federal judge out of St. Louis.

28. I really was trying to be serious on this

Believe it or not I actually enjoy discussing Constitutional issues, the documents, and underlying history behind them. Part of me thinks I may pursue a degree in Constitutional Law in my retirement, for the sheer fun of it.
