Putin can make up anything and say Trump agreed to it in private at the surrender summit.

Who is going to contradict him?

Trump is an inveterate liar and should have had someone with a shred of credibility in the room.

You people are hilarious.

Putin is a typical Russian autocrat and pious orthodox Christian. Do just a tad bit of research on Russian history and you will see that they prefer autocratic rulership. This is rather foreign to the US and European models but not the Russian people.

24. Autocrats aren't authoritarian now?

Here's a nice 2016 quote from Putin:

---

"I was not, as you know, a party member by necessity,” he said. “I liked Communist and socialist ideas very much and I like them still.”

In his speech, Putin insisted he was never just a “functionary” when it came to party matters and said the Moral Code of the Builder of Communism—a set of rules to be followed by all party members—“resembles the Bible a lot.”

According to the Russian president, the code revolved around key concepts such as brotherhood, equality and happiness.

52. No, autocrats are not always authoritarian.

Sure, they can be. Ivan the Terrible was one such Russian example, but Tsar Nicholas was anything but.

Far too many Christians of all types have fallen for the Utopian lies of Marxism. Why should Putin be any different particularly since his father was an atheistic Party leader and his mother was an Orthodox Christian. But like most idealistic young people, he grew up.

Believe it or not, 99's a Liberal. How can this be? Because Liberals, unlike classic Left-er-est, and Right-er-est (the parties of product), Liberals are not defined by their positions, but by the process they employ to arrive at them (the parties of process).

99's thought process has led to the Republicans. What was once called a "Liberal Republican/Libertarian".

Couple with 99's debating skills and strong sense of loyalty (perhaps to a fault LOL!), and 99 will keep the side up and take no prisoners.

It is part and parcel of the Democratic Party of today.

I have read quite a few biographies on Putin. I never said he wasn't at one time a Communist. I did say he is again an Orthodox Christian. Sadly, many Christians today have this odd affinity for Marxist thought. Heaven on earth is quite enticing.

53. Putin is an authoritarian dictator. He is a piece of shit.

WALLACE: I need to ask you, domestically — not internationally, domestically, inside Russia — why is it that so many of the people that oppose Vladimir Putin end up dead or close to it? Former Russian spy and double-agent Sergei Skripal, the victim of a nerve agent attack in England. Boris Nemtsov, a political opponent, gunned down near the Kremlin. Investigative reporter Anna Politkovskaya, murdered in an apartment building. Why is it that so many people who were political enemies of Vladimir Putin are attacked?

PUTIN: Well, first of all, all of us have plenty of political rivals. I’m pretty sure President Trump has plenty of political rivals.

WALLACE: But they don’t end up dead.

PUTIN: Well, not always — well, haven’t Presidents been killed in the United States? Have you forgotten about — well, has Kennedy been killed in Russia or in the United States? Or Mr. King? What — and what happens to the clashes between police and, well, civil society, and some — several ethnic groups? Well, that’s something that happens on the U.S. soil. All of us have our own set of domestic problems

killed any of those people in question.

I have no love or hatred for the man. He is from a rival nation but I understand the Russian people given my grandfather immigrated to the US from Russia.

Putin is an autocrat. Sure wish liberals were smarter than they are, or at least more educated. Y'all would lick the balls of Chavez and Castro but get all frothy at the mouth with Putin. '

Putin is also right. We have a history of unexplained and suspicious deaths of politicians, activists, and the like. Such is humanity.

68. See lines 20-30 for the classic VVP "what-about-ism".

President Putin should never play poker. The placement and timing, length and emphasis of the Putin Whatabout is what poker professionals call "a tell".

Example: The famous piano virtuoso Glenn Gould used to win sucker-bets by inviting marks to his home after the bars closed, and saying, "I can tell time by the piano".

Once the money was on the table, Gould would play the first eight bars of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. A broomhandle would poke the ceiling, and an angry voice would shout, "You bastard! Don't you know it's two-fifteen in the morning?"

4. The point of a one-to-one meeting is that no one can claim anything was agreed to

Each can deny whatever the other claims.

The purpose is to have a candid exchange of views, after which more formal, but still secret, diplomacy by principals and staffs can continue until tentative agreements are floated to gauge public reactions.

69. Putin knows that American Presidents cannot bind their governments to treaties without Senate...

...ratification.

Any agreements between them are "gentlemen's agreements", man-to-man. And President Trump was within his rights as United States Commander-in-Chief to order his U.S. Govt. subordinates to keep out, so he could deal with his Russian co-equal in secret; the American translator being bound by President Trump's Command Authority. This is Executive Privilege, is it not? After all, you must trust your President to do his job. That's what you freely elected him for.

82. The US Constitution limits the power of the Federal Government for this very reason.

Presidents must abide by the Constitutional limits granted to the Executive Office.

Without clear understanding of the threat Putin poses to the United States, trump disadvantages himself.

It was obvious he placed Putin's claim above that of the US intel community.

That was fixable. Congress forced him to back off from his inept statement.

The outlines of the Putin trump meeting are suspect for this reason.

Reagan had private meetings with Russian leaders and assured the Nation of their purpose.

Trump has a private meeting with Putin and has to "clarify n't " his support of Russian interference.

Like him or hate him, Reagan set the standard. Trust but verify.

Putin came out of that meeting like he won the lottery.

71. Wise delete. For a good time, see Posts #51, #62, and #63 at the end of this thread:

"...after the last round of liberal expulsions..."

Plain as day. Marking the target makes the target fair game, hypothetically speaking, of course. Present company excepted, of course. Nothing to Alert Upon here.

TIP: If you must reply to possible alert-bait, always say "one says", "one may claim" or "one alleges", instead of "you say", "you claim", or "you allege".

Makes it more difficult to successfully Alert-Hide one for "Personal-Attack" against one's personal attacker. Hypothetically speaking, of course. Present company excepted, of course. Nothing to Alert here.

Who said I was "confident"? Just prudent, my friend. Seen me around lately? One has no desire to join another's "latest round of Liberal expulsions". One may find such an idea quite repugnant, in fact. One must be very careful around here, and watch one's back, one finds.

Strictly speaking for myself, of course. The idea of being personally targeted by persons unknown is too creepy for words.

As far as I can tell Trump has still been harder on Russian than any previous American president. The sanctions are hurting Russia, and everyone with a brain knows it.

is binding on the U.S. Govt. Only secret "gentlemen's agreements" between Presidents Putin and Trump personally are involved, and the keeping of these secret agreements between these two Presidents is entirely between them, and none of the business of the U.S. Govt., only the business of their Commander-in-Chief. Entirely within his rights as the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Govt. to tell his subordinates to back off and mind their own business.

http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/

Given this, if Putin says that Trump agreed to "X" we can give a probability of its truth by considering Trump's reaction.

This, admittedly discounts Trump's motivation for lying. The blowback is also a significant indicator of whether he will lie about it.
