1. Is she still here

illegally? That's a felony offense to return a second time. If she is here legally then did she admit to the initial instance on her request because not doing so is also a felony and gets your status revoked.

6. I didn't say you can't or even you shouldn't

just asked why if you don't know the whole story.

Personally I would say if she didn't re-enter the country legally she should be stripped of her position and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

14. She benefited from chain migration.

"We're from Juarez, Mexico, which is one of the most dangerous cities at least in Mexico, if not the world. My parents were adamant about us not growing up there. When I was eight, they tried again. We moved to California, still undocumented. My younger sister, though, had been born in El Paso, Texas, and so we were able to get our documents through her, even though she was only four at the time. Through the process, we eventually became documented. If this had happened now, we wouldn't be able to become citizens because the laws have changed and a four-year-old couldn't sponsor a family. Thank god at the time they didn't have those requirements. We came in 1977. We finally got our documents in 1983."

15. IT was the law at the time

You can't go back and punish someone for following a law that changed later.

She's legal and a citizen end of story.
Legally she has every right and privilege extended to all naturalized US citizens.

For the record I agree with ending chain migration.

18. Trumps in-laws most likely benefited from chain migration as well

It’s bad policy in general.

22. Perhaps not. "Congratulations to Trumps in laws for becoming U.S. citizens the correct way."

23. From your link

“Melania Trump's Slovenian parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, were sworn in as U.S. citizens today, according to the AP, after likely obtaining permanent residence through the very "chain migration" processes the Trump administration has tried to curtail.”

So perhaps they did perhaps they didn’t.

7. Additional facts

She came here with her parents illegally, was deported and returned legally and
"She became a citizen in 1994 and later got her bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s degree in education from Azusa Pacific University."

https://www.sgvtribune.com/2016/11/10/meet-your-california-48th-district-assemblywoman-elect-blanca-rubio/

I have no issue with her being in the elected position she is in.
She is a legal citizen of the US with all the rights and privileges of a naturalized citizen.

13. She was brought here illegally as a child by her parents

The family was deported and she returned legally

You don't have to like it.
She did it the right way and put in the work to become a legal US citizen.

Nothing like a good nothingburger with your poutrage

8. This is crazy !

It's like the illegals are establishing their own little hispanic State inside the State.

Kevin de Leon who is running for Cali US Senator openly admits that many of his relatives are illegals ans have stolen Social Security # ( a Federal crime ) and fake identity papers.

They are bragging about it.

10. She is a legal immigrant and US citizen

Here's an idea, if you don't like her story don't vote for her.

Otherwise it bullshit, she was deported, re-entered legally, took the time and effort to become a citizen and get an education.

Some people not liking her story falls under the category of "poutrage"

But I will not change my mind about de Leon and his currently illegal relatives.
