An interesting read "The Vaporware Presidency"

Excerpt from The Weekly Standard article.

"The big one, of course, is The Wall That Mexico Is Going to Pay For. We’re halfway through the Trump administration and there is no wall. Instead, the president is getting ready for a kabuki fight with Democrats in the lame-duck Congress over funding for construction of a wall that will never be granted. You can bet the milk money that after he fails to get Dems to agree to pay for The Wall That Mexico Was Supposed to Pay For, construction will be punted until the 2020 election. At which point Trump will try to sell voters on the idea that they need to re-elect him to “finish the wall” that was never started in the first place."

3. The article is just wrong

The wall has been started. Granted, they have hardly scratched the surface, but it has been started.

As far as he canard Mexico is going to pay for it, he never said the Mexican treasury is going to write a check. There are many ways for Mexico to pay for it.

Here's one tax money being sent out of the US to Mexico.

7. To me it is blather.

Is there something suddenly new about politicking?

Sheesh, dems wrote a stupid and unworkable healthcare law and then spent how many years campaigning that Republicans were to blame for its failures because they would not fix it.

We all know about repeal and replace until they could.(In a bit of fairness I doubt they figured on McCains vindictiveness).

Granny is going to be eating cat food etc.

I don`t think many people will get exercised over it.

8. And republicans campaigned for years on repealing that health care law

then when it came time to act that were clueless on how to do it.

The bigger point of the article is what I found interesting.
Trump has taken the art of political exaggeration and stretched it to it's new limits.

10. Thanks for the reply.

I will continue to post articles I find interesting, if you don't like them don't read them.

Speaking of bullshit promises regarding healthcare:

Scott Pelley: What’s your plan for Obamacare?

Trump: Obamacare’s going to be repealed and replaced, Obamacare is a disaster if you look at what’s going on with premiums where they’re up 40, 50, 55 percent.

Pelley: How do you fix it?

Trump: There's many different ways, by the way. Everybody's got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, "No, no, the lower 25 percent that can't afford private. But--"

Pelley: Universal health care.

Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now.

Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?

Trump: They're going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably—

Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?

Trump: —the government's gonna pay for it. But we're going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most it's going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.

Same with another posters replies.

Like I said, welcome to politics, the articles author and you having vapors over it suddenly is laughable and I doubt either of you will care when the new dem House does the same shit.

12. Larger point Carl. It was bad before and it's worse now.

You want to call that me having the vapors you just go to town with that.
I posted the article with no other commentary than "Interesting read"

My expectations of the democrats in control is on the same level as when the republicans are, almost nothing of value will happen. They all lie and grandstand as part of the game.

I will bring up Trumps bullshit lies on how great his plan for health care is every time someone brings up the bullshit lies Obama told about savings and keeping your doctor.
Different singer, same song.

Politics is kabuki theater with real world consequences.

18. Let trump do trump.

Voters will show him what they think of his policies. If trump makes it to 2020 unscathed.

True believers are seldom dissuaded. True trumpers to the end.

Non believers, who cast votes for the lesser evil, have moved toward divided government.

Wait for the shake up of the WH senior staff, as with Sessions, what follows is self inflicted.

And that is a good approach.

No real front-runner emerging on the Dem side at this point and I don't know who they are going to be able to put up that will be a serious contender at this point.
