Trump's Trade War equals Record Bankrupcies for Farmers

(QUOTE)
A wave of bankruptcies is sweeping the U.S. Farm Belt as trade disputes add pain to the low commodity prices that have been grinding down American farmers for years.

Throughout much of the Midwest, U.S. farmers are filing for chapter 12 bankruptcy protection at levels not seen for at least a decade, a Wall Street Journal review of federal data shows.

Bankruptcies in three regions covering major farm states last year rose to the highest level in at least 10 years. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, which includes Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, had double the bankruptcies in 2018 compared with 2008. In the Eighth Circuit, which includes states from North Dakota to Arkansas, bankruptcies swelled 96%. The 10th Circuit, which covers Kansas and other states, last year had 59% more bankruptcies than a decade earlier.

States in those circuits accounted for nearly half of all sales of U.S. farm products in 2017, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data. (UNQUOTE)

2. As someone who lives right smack in the middle of farm country,

this financial distress has been building up for a while; it started even before Obama was president, probably as long ago as Jimmy Carter. It's a festering boil that's taken years, decades, to build up, and now it's finally popping.

It's caused by too-high taxes, not by any governmental agricultural or trade policies.

Please put blame where blame belongs.

Too-high taxes are the doings of Demos and primitives.

19. Didnt know Kansas was a blue state

Kansas has some of the highest taxes in the country. An article I read said don’t retire there. Thought Kansas was a red state. Am I wrong? Charlie mike I anxiously await your attack.

20. All I know is....

I paid $1.29 for a gallon of 2% milk yesterday. In 1980 that gallon of milk was $1.49. I read one of the reasons is was because Americans have reduced their dairy intake over the years.

11. So you would prefer that China:

Keep stealing our intellectual property

Dump their products on our shores

Undercut wholesale prices by state support to cause more manufacturing losses and more jobs lost in America.

Manipulate their currency to keep our goods too expensive

Trade wars are messy. but if we hold out- we win in the end. Obama help give the store away!

I would rather vote for Trump than any Dem president who ran with the exception of Kennedy( Course he would not be welcome in todays Dem Party) and probably Truman!

NO Trump is doing surgery to correct the cancer caused by both left and right for decades!

29. Well pray tell enlighten the Western World!

Tell me how we can stop China from dumping goods on our shores, steal out technology and intellectual property?

Also show us that without a trade war we can have fairer trade with a nation that exports far more to us than we do to them.

Remember if we astop buying their products intentionally that is a trade war!

He probably is glad AOC is in congress and if they ever pass her ding dong bill- our nation is done!

17. We export what we grow and are doing very well right now. I'll tell you what crippled the farming

in our area - Jimmy Carter's grain embargo and the 2015 west coast longshoreman strike. Those overpaid union workers almost killed off farming in the west. I bet you were really worried about us during that strike.

By the way; "About half of West Coast union longshoremen make more than $100,000 a year — some much more, according to shipping industry data. More than half of foremen and managers earn more than $200,000 each year. A few bosses make more than $300,000. All get free healthcare".

25. The repercussions of what Carter did lasted for many years for guys like us.

Some never recovered. Remember the 1980's farm crisis? Reagan saved us. My husband and I were able to buy back the place thanks to Ronald Reagan. btw; why didn't you mention the longshoreman strike of 2015.

Maybe we can talk about that later today. lol

22. So if your side gains power

tens of ,millions of people will lose their jobs because we will have no more gas stations, gas industry, oil industry, coal industry, no military mechanized forces that burn fuel, no cruise ships, airlines going bankrupt, but all therm going under are okay to you!!!

At least if Trump wins the trade war which it looks like he will, these farmers will be working OT to meet all the demand for soybeans!

It is so easy to see through your vile hatred of Trump and all he does!
