went out and took a survey

Since the world's going to be locked in ice and wind in a few hours, earlier this evening I went around town (I live outside of a town) getting necessities and inquiring about a certain, uh, mystery.

Why the attraction of so many to the sourassed sourpuss grouchy old crank from Vermont? He's very negative, very pompous and self-important, and lacks even an iota of warmth and charisma.

So why do so many seem to like him, this miserable pious old reprobate with a stout and thieving wife?

America once had a president without charisma. He wasn't nearly as bad as the news media and hippies made him out to be, but even his most fervent supporters would agree he'd have had fewer problems if he'd come across as a nicer, more positive, sort of person.

I'm talking of course of Richard Nixon, president 1969-1974, and owner of one of the most massive electoral landslides in American history, 1972, when he carried all fifty states but one.

I talked with people who were old enough to have voted for him in 1972 and 1968, and even found a few ancients who'd voted for him in 1960. Incidentally they too agreed the guy had no charms.....but at the same time, it was vitally important for America and the future that he be elected over any of his ostensibly more-personable, smiley-faced, opponents (John Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey, George Wallace, George McGovern).

Imagine, it was suggested, if the hippies and yippies and other dregs of society, embedded in the bureaucracy in positions of real power and authority, had controlled the government during the early 1970s. They ultimately did, but it wasn't nearly as harmful later, than it would've been earlier. America would've hit the skids and evaporated before Jimmy Carter could even get elected president.

So that's why they preferred a candidate with no charisma; they considered the alternative and recoiled in horror.

I'm not sure however why the BernieBrats like their hemorrhoidal senile old coot, preferring him over someone much more outgoing, much less judgemental and self-righteous, one much more genial. Anybody care to guess?

1. Bolshevik Bernie is old school communism.

He has dozens and dozens of commie " handlers " behind the scenes.

Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin were all difficult men....they didn't give a fuck....they were dictators.

Bernie is the same hard ass commie.

4. Bernie Sanders' American Dream is in Denmark

Sanders endorses what has come to be known as “The Nordic Model.”

Open a newspaper on any given day here in this small Europe nation known for high taxes, generous government services and its stubbornly happy citizens, and you'll almost certainly find a story about the U.S. presidential election.

The Danes are following the race with an astounding level of enthusiasm and interest in part because Bernie Sanders, one of the leading candidates for the Democratic nomination, won't stop talking about them.
Sanders has proudly adopted the label of a "democratic socialist," and he has pointed to Denmark as a model for his vision of an ideal American future.

‘In Denmark, there is a very different understanding of what "freedom" means... they have gone a long way to ending the enormous anxieties that comes with economic insecurity.’—SEN. BERNIE SANDERS

At a presidential debate, Sanders brought up Denmark and the surrounding Scandinavian states when asked to describe what "democratic socialism" means to him.
"I think we should look to countries like Denmark, like Sweden and Norway," Sanders said, "and learn what they have accomplished for their working people."

We are not Denmark," Hillary Clinton responded.
The senator's affinity for the Danish society has stretched back years. In 2013, after hosting the Danish Prime Minister on a tour of his home state of Vermont, Sanders wrote an essay praising their model of government.
"In Denmark, there is a very different understanding of what 'freedom' means," Sanders wrote, arguing the U.S. could learn from the way the Danes have "gone a long way to ending the enormous anxieties that comes with economic insecurity."
"Instead of promoting a system which allows a few to have enormous wealth, they have developed a system which guarantees a strong minimal standard of living to all -- including the children, the elderly and the disabled," Sanders added.

6. Yeah.....

...I think I'll pass thanks:

"Personal Income Tax Rate in Denmark is expected to be 55.80 percent by the end of this quarter, according to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations. In the long-term, the Denmark Personal Income Tax Rate is projected to trend around 55.00 percent in 2020, according to our econometric models."

+ the 25% VAT and a new car tax of 180%!

Additionally: Pretax income per capita is 23 percent higher in the U.S. than in Denmark. And because so much is raised from consumption taxes, in general things are more expensive in Scandinavian countries. For example, a beer in Denmark will cost you 75 percent more in than in the U.S., a coffee a third more, a dozen eggs 40 percent more. Housing in Denmark is also more expensive than in the U.S. and on average homes are smaller.

Danish university students have their tuition paid for them by the state. But there is no choice between public and private institutions. Nor do students have the same freedom to study what they please as in the U.S. Students apply to study a specific subject. None of this liberal arts nonsense about the nation needing well-rounded citizens. And how hard it is for high school graduates to study the subject of their choice depends on whether the Ministry of Education thinks the country needs more graduates in that field. The government adjusts the G.P.A. requirement for admission depending on how many majors it anticipates needing.

+ the Municipal income tax, Church tax, Tax on owner-occupied dwellings

But, they say their quality of life is great!

7. Denmark finishes first in surveys as the happiest nation on earth

The current Danish government is a minority coalition of conservative parties. The “Danish People’s Party” are the Danish equivalent of Trump people plus three mainstream center-right parties including the Conservative People’s Party.
The Social Democrats are the largest party in parliament but the left coalition wasn’t big enough to form a government.
There are elections later in the Spring.

19. The only time my son was ever racially abused was

by two Danish high school exchange students. It was nasty but I sorted them out and so did the school.

Denmark has no open borders. Plenty of other myths about Denmark have been debunked. I just got mad thinking about what those two boys did. And there my son was, going to a school in a small rural American town where they vote 80% Republican and the only ones to call him a nigger etc were two liberal cunts from the country of fucking enlightenment that the American Lefty loves.

Fuck Denmark.

8. If you pay high taxes

It ain’t free. The unemployment rate in Denmark is currently 3.7% so just about everybody is working and paying taxes.

13. Nixon...

I cant tell you what voters thought in the late 1960's. I met him in 1990 and met with him over the next couple of years for my thesis.

He was incredibly serious. His allusions to popular culture were clunky and frankly weird.

What was the attraction?? What made me enamored with him was he was an incredible genius. He had a powerful understanding of human nature individually and culturally.

A. Amazing man.
