A bit of truth comes out

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-7236155/Electric-cars-WONT-end-air-pollution-release-brake-tyre-particulates.html

It has never been about the environment. It's about restricting open, free, individual travel. People are easier to control when they are confined.

"Damaging levels of pollution will still be released into the atmosphere even if electric cars become widespread, a Government report has warned.

Brake, tyre and road surface wear all contribute to dangerous emissions - regardless of the type of vehicle used.

Plastic debris created from this wear and tear also contributes as much as 28 per cent of the total microplastics added to the ocean worldwide.

The Air Quality Expert Group's Non-Exhaust Emissions from Road Traffic report said that the best way to reduce emissions is to lower the overall volume of traffic.

Other green ideas detailed in the report include lowering the motorway speed limits and creating emissions limits for brake pads and tyres."

3. It is always about controlling us. I honestly wonder if i'll ever buy another personal car. We have

2 and both have low miles. They amount we drive them, they will be around for another 10 years easy. Between drone deliveries, and autonomous cars, and rental services why would you buy a depreciating asset unless its emergency insurance.

When you got to go, you got to go.

4. We have several reasons.

One is at least in terms of food, no one delivers to us, we are simply too far out. Secondly to get out just due to cabin fever. We work from home, so it would be all too easy to never get out at all. I don't thin that's good for mental health. Lastly, I really enjoy driving. We often enjoy a good all day long country drive. Sometimes we'll cover a few hundred miles. It's fun to find new places to stop at.

We're looking at buying a new (to us) Nissan Xterra next week. We need a good winter vehicle, and something to haul stuff in.

6. I like them for three reasons

1: It's on a full truck frame, and not some glorified car.
2: It has part time 4WD with a high and low range transfer case

and most importantly

3: I can get it in a stick. In 36 years of driving I have never owned an automatic and never will.

We're looking at the Pro 4-X. I like the idea of the better shocks, skid plates, and locking rear differential. We don't off road, per se, but when we go fossil hunting I've been known to get into a few rough spots.

8. I really like mine, looked for awhile but couldnt find a newish Pro

My only issue is it has no lockable compartment for a GObag. They have a shallow compartment under the back floor panel but doesn’t hold shit, and it’s inconvenient as I have an after market divider/ carrying tray( keeps stuff from sliding all over.) that mounts to the bike racks in the floor. The flip side is that the tray hides the compartment and you have to unscrew it before you can access your gear.

Having had my back window smashed, I don’t keep anything in it accept for a few basic tools and a flashlight.

7. In a heated debate, I once had a lefty admit to me

that if he had his way he would build walls around the cities to prevent people from leaving, and shoot at them from the overpasses if they tried. I asked if he had ever visited the Berlin Wall.

(We were debating the phenomenon of "white flight," the plan to have white people pay for the advancement of colored people through higher taxes to fund lousy neighborhood schools.)
