Jeffries tells FOX's Chris Wallace that the House doesn't work for Trump

Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) went on Fox News Sunday and told Fox viewers that Democrats do not work for Trump.

Transcript via Fox News Sunday:

WALLACE: Excuse me Congressman, but I mean the fact is almost since he took office, first it was collusion with the Russians, the Mueller report said it couldn’t make a case there. Obstruction, which Democrats still believe is the case, now Ukraine. There’s been an awful lot about investigating the president, impeaching the president, removing the president since he took the oath of office.

JEFFRIES: Well, the House is a separate and coequal branch of government. We don’t work for this president or any president, we work for the American people. We do have a constitutional responsibility to serve as a check and balance on a potentially out of control executive branch. That is not the Democratic Party playbook, that, in fact, is the James Madison playbook. Madison indicated that the House should serve as a rival to the executive branch because the Founders didn’t want a king, they didn’t want a dictator, they didn’t want a monarch, they wanted a democracy.

So we do have a responsibility to defend our democracy. We’re here at this moment right now because the president decided to pressure a foreign government to target an American citizen for political gain and at the same time, withhold $391 million dollars in military aid from a very vulnerable Ukraine, which is an ally to the United States and is still at war with Russian-backed separatists in Crimea. That’s why we are at this moment, Chris.

1. No shit Jeffries. Thank you for the 7th grade civics lesson.

Now for Jefferies' civics lesson. The House is not a coequal branch with the Executive branch. The House and Senate combined are coequal.

4. Valid point.

Which makes you better than about half of U.S. citizens, who according to some survey I'm not going to bother to cite, found that half can't name the 3 branches.

2. Umm. The money paid to Hunter Biden was STOLEN from Ukraine

And Joe Biden got rid of the prosecutor who was looking into it when he was VP

Do we aid and abet US citizens who steal from other countries because they are related to US officials?

11. He wrongly implies that the Const. forced their hands. It gives Cong. the ability

to Impeach, it does not require they do so!

8. Let's give credit where it's owed

Mueller was appointed by Trump's justice department. Democrats had nothing to do with it. And now they have to pickup the pieces. Be fair now. Sweeping up after an elephant is no day at the beach.

9. The House doesn't work for me either. They hate average Americans.

The House's intentions are to ruin people's lives. Congress hasn't passed a worthwhile bill since the Bush administration.

"Well, the House is a separate and coequal branch of government." Wrong, and we shouldn't be having Congressmen who are too stupid to understand government.

13. I didn't see where he pointed out that Democrats in the house have a responsibility

to undo a legitimate election simply because their candidate was horrible, disliked, and crooked. Maybe I just missed it.
