Foreign Policy: Joe Biden Is the Only Honest Man in Washington

http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2014/10/06/joe_biden_is_the_only_honest_man_in_washington

Vice President Joe Biden has had to apologize, twice, to two key U.S. allies in the fight against the Islamic State. It wasn't because he lobbed false accusations at them. It was because he accidentally told some inconvenient truths.
...
Biden apologized to Erdogan, and the White House said the vice president called the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, to say that his remarks were not "meant to imply that the Emirates had facilitated or supported" the Islamic State, al Qaeda, or other terrorist groups in Syria. On Monday, the White House said Biden "has enough character to admit when he's made a mistake."
...
But here's the rub: Biden's comments may have been impolitic -- and in some ways imprecise -- but the substance of his remarks match up with what the U.S. intelligence community has known for some time and has even publicly alluded to.

4. Some times, I think Joe lost his "filter"

It's a fairly common thing among those who have survived a stroke, a brain injury, or aneurysms, as Joe has.

You say things that other folks might be thinking, but wouldn't necessarily say out loud. Certainly there have been a few occasions in the past where Joe's lack of a filter has led him to say something kind of dumb (but basically harmless). In this case though, he said something that NEEDED to be said. It's time to stop pretending our so-called "allies" in the Middle East are angels fighting against the convenient devils of the moment, when the reality is they are devils themselves, who at best wear a suit that's a slightly less bright shade of red, and carry slightly duller pitchforks

6. He seems to do it a bit too often to my mind to think it's not calculated

Calling out the emperor has no clothes, except it's not a little girl, it's "happy grandpa", doing it. Same thing with supporting freedom to marry.
