MSNBC is the Fear-Mongering Propaganda Machine That’s Dividing This Nation

Insert some random blog by some angry, wingnut basement dweller

Here's more info on MSNBC spreading lies and refusing to apologize for it.

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2014/01/07/kochs-accuse-msnbc-s-maddow-misrepresenting-their-contributions-and-r

Everyone knows that MSNBC is the least credible "news" organization on cable today.

I would think you'd have a better understanding of the how the stock market actually operates. But instead, you just blithely put out disinformation and expect the unwashed masses to buy into it. Sad, just sad.

The End of Loser Liberalism
Making Markets Progressive
By Dean Baker (2011)

Though it is not hard to follow and appreciate Fed policy or the ups and downs of the dollar, we ignore these important economic policies at our peril. Instead, many progressives take the lead of conservatives and focus on the easy-to-see ups and downs of the stock market as a measure of economic health. Yet a mainstream economics textbook would tell us that the value of the stock market is supposed to reflect the value of future corporate profits. Rising profits could mean that future growth will be stronger and that wages as well as profits will be higher. On the other hand, the stock market might rise because investors believe that profits will rise at the expense of wages, or as a result of lower corporate tax payments. In the latter, redistributive case, only those who hold lots of stock would have reason to be happy about the prospect of higher stock prices. Higher stock prices ought not to provide any more cause for celebration than higher corn or zinc prices – it's good news for corn and zinc producers, but bad news for everyone else. Thus, there's little benefit from rising stock prices to give progressives cheer.

52. People who watch Fox News are less well informed compared to people who watch no news

There are studies that show Fox News viewers are less well informed compared to people who do not watch any news http://www.thenation.com/blog/167999/its-official-watching-fox-makes-you-stupider#

According to a new study by Farleigh Dickinson University, Fox viewers are the least knowledgeable audience of any outlet, and they know even less about politics and current events than people who watch no news at all.

Respondents to the survey were able to answer correctly an average of 1.8 of 4 questions about international news and 1.6 out of 5 questions about domestic affairs. “Based on these results, people who don’t watch any news at all are expected to answer correctly on average 1.22 of the questions about domestic politics, just by guessing or relying on existing basic knowledge,” said Dan Cassino, the poll’s analyst.

“The study concludes that media sources have a significant impact on the number of questions that people were able to answer correctly,” wrote Cassino and his colleagues. “The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly—a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all. On the other hand, if they listened only to NPR, they would be expected to answer 1.51 questions correctly.”

This should come as no surprise if you follow Fox. Consider some recent history. Fox and Friends host Steve Doocy invented a quotation from President Obama completely out of thin air. He falsely claimed that Obama had said he and Michelle were not born with silver spoons in their mouths “unlike some people,” in reference to Mitt Romney’s privileged upbringing. In fact, Obama did not say “unlike some people” and he has been using the silver spoon line for years. Several other news outlets repeated Doocy’s assertion as fact and Doocy initially avoided correcting the record after it was revealed he was wrong. Eventually he admitted that he “seemed to misquote” Obama, instead of stating that he did, in fact, misquote him. And he did not apologize for the error.
If the conservatives would watch something other than Fox, these viewers may have a clue as to what is happening in the real world

61. I am waiting for the bail in hearings on the Texas voter id law

Due to Texas voter suppression laws, Texas may be back under federal pre-clearance requirements (I love the fact that this piece is from a right wing group that is upset about the prospect of Texas being subject ot pre-clearance again. http://blog.pacificlegal.org/2014/texas-soon-back-federal-voting-rights-act-supervision/#more-34871
In October, federal judge Nelva Gonzalez Ramos of the Southern District of Texas issued a far-reaching opinion striking down Texas’ new Voter ID law on several grounds. She not only found that the law violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, but also that it was an unconstitutional burden on the right to vote under the Equal Protection Clause, unlawful intentional discrimination against Hispanics and African-Americans, and a poll tax in violation of the Twenty-Fourth Amendment. Although the Fifth Circuit stayed the injunction and allowed the Voter ID law to take effect in November, Judge Ramos’ decision has received quite a bit of publicity.

One little-discussed aspect of the 147 page opinion was a reference the Department of Justice’s attempt to require Texas to once again get permission from the federal government whenever it changes its election laws. As Liberty Blog readers are aware, before last year’s decision in Shelby County v. Holder, Texas and many other States had to receive “preclearance” from DOJ to enact any new voting laws. Shelby County absolved states of that requirement. However, little-known Section 3(c) of the VRA allows a federal court to exercise supervisory authority over state election laws “for such period as it may deem appropriate” if it finds that a State has abridged “the voting guarantees of the fourteenth or fifteenth amendment.” Thus, DOJ has contended that it may bring a State back under the preclearance regime after one finding of intentional discrimination by a federal judge.

The attempt to “bail in” Texas will be the first significant test of this provision in the post-Shelby County era. Even if the finding of intentional discrimination in this case was correct, Section 3(c) is an extraordinary remedy.
I am hopeful that Texas will be subject to pre-clearance later next year.

Bush asked for consent in iraq, he got it

Obama asked congress for consent in Libya? Nope (SEALS, FAST Marines, JTACS fought)

Obama asked for consent in Pakistan? Nope (SOCOM, SEALS, JTACS all fighting)

Obama asked for consent in Mali? (where 4 US green berets nco's were killed?) nope (USSF fighting alongside French forces)

Obama asked for consent in Uganda? Nope (US Green Berets lead combat patrols against the LRA)

Obama asked for consent in Yemen? Nope (SOCOM, SEALS, JTACS all fighting)

Obama said he could go to war with Syria without congressional consent just 1 year ago how'd that work out?

Why do Syrian Jihadi groups have US made TOW anti Tank missiles whose Serial Numbers show they were in USMC supply inventories last year? who authorized that?
