Daily Caller Pulls Article Critical of Fox News - Author Resigns

So much for editorial independence. Conservative blogger Mickey Kaus has resigned from The Daily Caller after the site’s co-founder and editor-in-chief, Tucker Carlson, pulled a column critical of Fox News.
...

Kaus, who's taken to crusading against amnesty!™ and “illegal aliens,” wrote a piece criticizing the conservative network for “not fulfilling responsibility of being the opposition on amnesty and immigration.” It was up on the site Tuesday morning, but was quickly removed.

According to Kaus, Carlson -- a contributor to Fox News and the weekend host of “Fox and Friends” -- said The Daily Caller could not publish material critical of the network because of his affiliation. “We can't trash Fox on the site; I work there,” Carlson said.

“He said it was a rule, and he wouldn't be able to change that rule. So I told him I quit," Kaus told Politico’s Dylan Byers. “I just don't see how you can put out a publication with that kind of giant no-go area. It's not like we're owned by Joe's Muffler Shop, so we just can't write about Joe's Muffler shop.”

“It's a larger problem on the right: Everybody is scared of Fox,” he added.

Fox News may be "fair and balanced", but it looks like The Daily Caller is certainly not. Who'da thunk it?

And for the cons on here who want to say "Let the liberal author find another job", he's absolutely not liberal. He wanted to criticize Fox News for not being conservative enough!

If conservatives were consistent and had integrity, they'll all be posting "So much for 1st amendment rights!" like they all did when that Duck Dynasty guy got punished for saying stuff on TV. But since it's about Fox News, we'll just get crickets.

1. Yeah, this was a disappointment to me.

When Tucker got hire by Fox full time I was concerned that something like this would happen. Too bad.

2. The Daily Caller as well as the Huffington Post both have political agendas

Pretty much like the pot calling the kettle black. Why don't you throw in some quotes from Media Matters and then we will have really learned nothing.

3. What's HuffPo's political agenda?

I provided ample evidence of Daily Caller's agenda.

What evidence do you have?

5. You really consider the Huffington Post a ligitimate news source?

Don't need any evidence. You provided opinion backed by information from left wing web site.

I'm accepting the report that someones posting from an internet website got pulled. Happens all the time on both left and right wing websites. I didn't read the original article so I have no idea what it said or if it was accurate. If it is Tucker Carlson's website he has every right to pull anything he finds fault in.

The Hufington Post editors decide every day what to allow on their website and what not to allow on their website.

The issue is the left frequently confuses opinion with fact.

6. "You really consider the Huffington Post a ligitimate news source?"

When did I ever say that? Goodbye, you are clearly biased.

7. Does this speak more shitty about Carlson or FOX?

Is it worst at Carlson has hurt his integrity by not letting his journalist speak negatively about a network? Or is it worse that Fox would take action against Carlson for allowing his website to speak negatively about Fox?

8. Does this speak more shitty about Obama or New York Times?

Ben Stein, censored for criticism of Obama

Steve Watson, Prison Planet - A columnist for the New York Times has publicly stated that he believes he was fired last week simply for criticizing president Obama and his policies.

Commentator Ben Stein writes in the American Spectator that the real reason for his dismissal was not, as the Times indicated, due to a conflict of interest arising from his role as a spokesperson for credit rating service FreeScore.com, nor for budgetary issues.

Rather, Stein states, he was “expelled from the New York Times” due to recent criticism of Obama.

“The two main things, as I see them, were that I started criticizing Mr. Obama quite sharply over his policies and practices.” Stein writes.

http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/ny-times-reporter-i-was-fired-for-criticizing-obama-columnist-who-compared-obama-campaign-to-hitle/question-599367/?link=ibaf&q=fired+for+citicising+Obama

In one case the writer resigned in the other he was fired.

It "speaks more shitty" about no one.

If you google it you will find hundreds of people getting fired or quitting over editorial differences

Web sites with political agendas have no responsibilities. The NYT should be concerned with issues of freedom of press but they aren't.
