It's Just So Hard to Understand![]() Anyone else feel like walking away from the circus? This site if often a perfect demonstration of why the two parties (and their partisans) can no longer be taken seriously. Maybe...just MAYBE...the us-vs.-them, we're-100%-correct-and-you-guys-are-100%-stupid/evil schtick MIGHT have something to do with this: ![]() http://www.gallup.com/poll/166763/record-high-americans-identify-independents.aspx What do you think?

1. Makes a lot of sense in states where Independents can vote in either primary
Otherwise, you have to switch back and forth in order to vote in the primary that most concerns you.

5. I'd love that if it were the case here. But I have no desire to align myself, even nominally,
with either party.

10. The Libertarian Party ...
... is a truly centrist party. Fiscally conservative, Socially liberal, and will ere on the side of personal liberty in all cases.
Unfortunately, there are no decent Libertarian candidates. And Libertarianism doesn't appeal to any specific base. |

2. We've needed a viable third party for so long
But the current political machine is doing its best to perpetuate its existence. I'm not sure if or how we're ever going to reclaim the initiative.

3. I walked away a long time ago
I pick my side issue by issue and take my shots accordingly.....
I'm one of the few in here who have been booted from both DU and Freerepublic. They both hate me. |

7. I kinda do the same. I still have open accounts at both FR and DU.
I'm not popular at either place, but they haven't zotted or Tombstoned me yet.

8. LOL I'm out for good on both or until I fire up new handles on a different IP address
and a different machine.
DU hates me on guns and can't stand that I will rub their noses in their gun ignorance, and FR hates me on the gay rights issue. I'm not a big supporter of any organized religion and not christian and FR just can't handle that either. DU also can't stand it that I've been successful in life without a hand up from our government and I ain't white..... Oh well screw them. I consider myself to be a radical moderate. |

4. Personally I think it is a somewhat naive characterization...
I think most people realize that neither party really represents their interests. It isn't about the mud throwing. Not really... it is what Chomsky often says. There is one party in America - the business party. It has two factions: R&D

9. The vast majority of American voters
Do not post on sites like DU, FR or here. If you see sites such as these as anything more than entertainment and confirmation bias then you are delusional. Despite how many zingers you think you post you will never garner a single vote for your cause or party.

11. I'm leaning towards Independent, and hoping
Bernie Sanders, Independent Senator from Vermont, enters the race. He'll have my vote for sure.
