White House on Kim Davis: The rule of law is central to our democracy

Here is the response of the White House to Kim Davis http://www.rawstory.com/2015/09/white-house-on-kim-davis-the-rule-of-law-is-central-to-our-democracy/

White House spokesman Josh Earnest on Thursday said it was “appropriate” for a federal judge to resolve the matter of a county clerk in Kentucky who was jailed after repeatedly refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples on religious grounds.

“I would not from this vantage point second-guess those decisions,” Earnest told reporters, when asked about a U.S. federal judge finding the clerk in contempt of court.

“There’s a rule of law and the principle of the rule of law is central to our democracy. And it’s appropriate in this instance for a federal judge to determine the best way to enforce the law.”

8. Based on comments over the last couple days

I didn't figure this would go over well.

The rule of law is simple. It's similar to the idea of binding arbitration. When there is a conflict between the rights of 2 opposing parties, a third unbiased party decides whose rights prevail.

The rule of law says that we accept that idea, whether we are on the winning or losing side of the argument.

All the nonsense comments above are just that... nonsense.

An analogy is like the call of the umpire at the plate. Imagine a baseball game with no umpires or players who didn't follow the judgment of the umpire.

Without the rule of law there is total lawlessness. Chaos. Anarchy.

15. You're probably a riot at parties.

Make some nonsensical comment, nod knowingly, and then wander off to inflict it on someone else.

So exactly how does the Brady thing relate to the rule of law?

Take your time. It's a long weekend.

17. I'm SURE you have a bank of my "nonsensical comment"s....

Can you site ONE?....JUST ONE?
YOU said...."The rule of law says that we accept that idea, whether we are on the winning or losing side of the argument."
NO....no rule of Law says ANY such thing..."accept that idea"....abiding by the law yes until fixed....accepting no.

If accepting was mandatory there would be no changes in the Constitution...Prohibition would be Law, School segregation would be law, no women vote would be law, Roe-v-Wade wouldn't be law...... and we would have to..as you suggest, .."...accept that idea" regardless of winning or losing side..."

18. Look up thread.

Without the rule of law, essentially allowing arbitration, your Brady thing would devolve into a duel on the steps.

The rule of law predated the constitution by a few hundred years. It's part of civil and common law. So the constitution has absolutely nothing to do with it.

For another example of a nonsensical comment... try number 17.

20. So you absolutely have no clue what the concept is.

All you've seen is that the white house says it's needed so you are opposed.

And you have no idea what it is.

Ya know with all of the information available at your fingertips to help you be informed....

and still.

So all you do is keep throwing bullshit ...

You really have no clue, do you?

"All you've seen is that the white house says it's needed so you are opposed.
And you have no idea what it is."

Actually I don't care what the White House(get that right) says...that joint isn't the final arbiter of Law....POTUS is 1 part of 3 Equal branches.

"And you have no idea what it is." I most certainly do....I don't play UNLESS I know...not a mistake I make..and you can't show I do........give it a try sparky........I'll enjoy this immensely if you dare...notice Goth/LMPV hides from me unless its a week old post that won't be seen.....this is a fresh 1....

I took the weekend off just for YOU(well and to go out on my boat).........I'll await your attempt

34. You gotta love it. He invokes Brady ...

then accuses you of doing so; and finally prances off into the sunset, gloriously celebratory as the voices in his head convince him to declare victory.
There are numerous posters to this forum with whom it is pleasant to engage in ripostes and repartee. Then there are those who simply lead one to weep about the sorry state of the human condition.
I'm learning to pick my spots.

wandering around the country with no plans to find and deport them seem to make that statement somewhat ironic coming from the nation's leader of the Executive branch of the Federal Government.

21. Actually it was the Supreme Court that voted to make marriage equality the law of the land after 36

states already had such laws. Kim Davis's violating this law, and the rights of same-sex couples that wanted to get married, is why she got hers.
