Noam Chomsky: The United States, Not Iran, Poses Greatest Threat to World Peace

Published on Sep 22, 2015 Democracynow.org - In a speech Saturday at The New School in New York, Noam Chomsky explained why he believes the U.S. poses the greatest threat to world peace. "The United States is a rogue state, indifferent to international law and conventions, entitled to resort to violence at will. … Take, for example, the Clinton doctrine—namely, the United States is free to resort to unilateral use of military power, even for such purposes as to ensure uninhibited access to key markets, energy supplies and strategic resources—let alone security or alleged humanitarian concerns. And adherence to this doctrine is very well confirmed and practiced, as need hardly be discussed among people willing to look at the facts of current history." Chomsky also explained why he believes the U.S. and its closest allies, namely Saudi Arabia and Israel, are undermining prospects for peace in the Middle East. "When we say the international community opposes Iran’s policies or the international community does some other thing, that means the United States and anybody else who happens to be going along with it.”

3. Noam's continued existence is an unearned gift from the visceral manifestation of American

power.

For the cheap, publicly educated seats: This old man wouldn't have survived 10 min. at any other time in human history than other this one. He would have been killed and/or eaten the moment he dropped.

An easy life breeds stellar weaknesses, NomNom Chompsky.

7. Well, let's look at the numbers......

Iran - had one 10 year brutal war against it's next door neighbor, Iraq, arguably a threat to them.

US - has had a series of wars over the last 60 years, NONE of which had a goddamned thing with any actual threat to the United States. (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq 1.0, Afghanistan, Iraq 2.0, and all the other smaller mini-invasions in the Middle East or Latin America regions).

Hard to argue with the facts.

8. I was wondering if anyone would have the guts to post it...

Noam speaks truth to power. Many here don't like that very much but most of those will be pretty confused by him and will simply dismiss it as irrelevant because they are so indoctrinated that the truth sounds ridiculus to them.

20. Sure. That encourages other nations to buy arms from us.

They'd rather our troops get killed and wounded in battle than theirs.

21. That is certainly not an original concept. Many Americans and foreigners have said it.

Including, I would imagine, terrorists.

I'm over Chomskey and Cenk and Pierce and the rest.
