Utah head of militia tried to detonate bomb at BLM facility in Arizona

Right wing terrorists are real and do not get sufficient press coverage http://www.sltrib.com/home/4040455-155/charges-utah-head-of-citizen-

Federal prosecutors say a Tooele County man placed a pipe bomb against the door of a BLM cabin and pushed the button on a remote detonator multiple times, with no result.

His mistake? He'd unwittingly assigned an undercover FBI agent to build the bomb......

Charging documents say Keebler is the commander of a citizen militia group headquartered in Stockton. He was present at the April 2014 standoff with federal land administrators near the Bunkerville, Nev., ranch of Cliven Bundy, and he was an associate of Finicum, who was killed in late January by Oregon state police after he tried to avoid their roadblock in eastern Oregon amid an occupation of a federal wildlife refuge. The Tribune wrote about Keebler in December 2011, when he worked as an outfitter guiding coyote sport hunters.

Undercover FBI employees became members of Keebler's "Patriots Defense Force," charging documents say, and trained for an "anti-government action" where, Keebler told members, they would be "going on the offensive."

Keebler's group scouted the BLM office in the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake City as a potential target, but found it unsuitable due to the commercial and homeless activity, charging documents state.

Man with weapons was headed to L.A. gay pride parade

But Lt. Saul Rodriguez said later the tweet was a misstatement. He said the suspect told investigators that he was going to the Pride festival but said he did not make additional statements about his intentions.

"It was a misstatement," Rodriguez said. "Unfortunately, she was given incorrect information initially, which indicated that that statement was made; however, that statement never was made. He did indicate that he was planning on going to the Pride festival but beyond anything as far as motives or his intentions that statement was never made nor did any officer receive that statement."

Court records show Howell was twice accused of threatening people with a gun last year.

Police in Charlestown, Ind. say the first incident involved James Wesley Howell’s boyfriend last October and the second involved a neighbor four days later.

16. Do you tire of being wrong?

Here are some facts for the silly conservatives to ignore or not be able to understand http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/06/11/home-grown-right-wing-terrorism-the-hate-the-gop-refuses-to-see.html

Well, what have we seen since 2010? An explosion in the number of hate groups and a rash of domestic terrorist acts committed by those very right-wing groups Napolitano warned us about. Per the Southern Poverty Law Center, since 2010, there have been 32 instances of terrorism by far-right groups—that equals eight attacks per year. (Of course, citing the SPLC won’t move many on the right because they continually tell me on Twitter that the SPLC is biased. They’re correct, the SPLC is biased. Against bigotry.)

The attacks include a plot in 2011 by members of a Georgia militia group to bomb a federal building and release deadly ricin in Atlanta; an attack by a white supremacist on a Sikh temple in Wisconsin that killed six people; another white supremacist planting bombs at a Martin Luther King parade in Seattle; and numerous plots against or actual killings of law enforcement officers. And this list doesn’t even include the anti-government LAX gunman who killed a TSA officer and wounded another in November 2013, or the attack we saw this past weekend by Jerad and Amanda Miller, who executed two Las Vegas policemen and then tossed the Gadsden flag used by the Tea Party onto the dead officers’ bodies.
Do you need more examples?

21. White Supremacy And Homegrown Terrorism Pose A Growing Threat In The US

Here are more facts for the conservatives to ignore or not be able to understand White Supremacy And Homegrown Terrorism Pose A Growing Threat In The US

There are currently 939 active hate groups in the U.S. In 2000, there were 602. The numbers are rising and “over 50 percent of them are white supremacist,” said Beirich.

The number of hate groups generally correlates with the population, according to Mark Potok, a senior fellow at the SPLC. Potok told Business Insider last year that two groups people should watch are the American Freedom Party, which is anti-immigrant and has moulded itself into a political party contesting elections, and Crew 41, a skinhead gang. A couple that reportedly belongs to Crew 41 were sentenced to life imprisonment in March for plotting and carrying out the murder of a registered sex offender and his wife.

Vice News recently published a documentary, “The Ku Klux Klan Is Boosting Its Numbers by Recruiting Veterans,” in which reporter Rocco Castoro goes to Mississippi and speaks with KKK members.

In one conversation, Steve Howard, the former Imperial Wizard of the North Mississippi White Knights, says, “I believe that white people need to have their own country, just like I believe that blacks need to have their own country here in America, but it’s going to take all out war to obtain it.”

The 2000 U.S. Census has been one of the most important factors in the rise of hateful extremists, Beirich explained. It showed that by the year 2042 white people would be a minority in the U.S.

Those figures sparked a growth in hate groups, she said, noting that white supremacists likely became nervous about the country becoming less white and more diverse.

“Obviously, the rise in the number of hate groups is a reflection of a backlash in this country against changing demographics,” she said.

She concluded that racism and the rise of white supremacist groups in the country should be a cause for concern among citizens and law enforcement.

“This white supremacy is an ideology that should have been put to bed with the Civil Rights Act, or the Civil War for God’s sake, right!” she said.

36. Turns out people get angry when you say white Americans are terrorists, too

It is sad to see so much denial as to the facts here. http://www.globalpost.com/article/6594328/2015/06/25/white-supremacy-terrorism

?itok=7FKyTPQX

Let us run a headline by you.

“White Americans are the biggest terror threat in the United States.”

That was the headline of an article we published in late June about a new study that found non-Muslim extremists in the United States had killed nearly twice as many Americans since 9/11 as Muslim “jihadists.” Many of the non-Muslim extremists — whom we’ll just call terrorists from now on — were motivated by right-wing anti-government beliefs or white supremacist ideologies. Nearly all of them were white US citizens.
Some readers saw what we were trying to do and applauded it. We were stating one of the study’s key findings about who was actually committing deadly acts of terrorism on US soil. We chose to describe those terrorists as “white Americans” not just because they were Americans and they were white, but because we were highlighting how the study unraveled a common post-9/11 assumption about terrorism in the United States — that it’s mainly the work of Muslims and foreigners. It’s not.

Some of them objected to our decision to call the terrorists “white Americans” instead of “some white Americans” or “white American extremists.” Without qualifying the term, they argued, we were claiming that ALL white Americans were a terror threat. Other readers worried that the headline, though correct, was unnecessarily divisive. Some thought it was unfair to focus on racial data when the study's summary didn't call attention to it.
Other readers reported us to Facebook for posting hate speech. They called us racists and race-baiters. They said we were ignoring “white genocide.” They asked why were weren’t talking about “black-on-white crime.” One person threatened to file a discrimination lawsuit.

27. SPLC President Issues Warning to Congress About Radical Right Terrorism

Here are some more facts for the silly conservatives to ignore or not be able to understand

However, SPLC President Richard Cohen, who testified before the committee, was having none of that. He told Cruz, who has exhibited no love for Muslims, that “Muslim communities are part of the solution, not part of the problem.”

Grassley complained about “the Obama Administration’s unwillingness to accept reality” and its “constant downplaying of the obvious connection between radical Islamic terrorism and the ongoing threats to our country,” but Cohen told Cruz that “Our country faces threats of violent extremism from many sources,” and pointed to the Orlando gay nightclub massacre as “but the latest example.”

“A year ago this month, it was the massacre of black churchgoers at Charleston’s “Mother Emanuel” church by a white supremacist.

“Two years ago this month, it was the murder of Las Vegas police officers by antigovernment zealots who had been at Cliven Bundy’s ranch.”

Neither set of perpetrators in those latter two incidents were, needless to say, affiliated with ISIS, since ISIS hasn’t been seen waving any Confederate flags or wearing any cowboy hats.

Cohen’s next statement was surely not to Republican committee members’ liking, that, “the threat of violent extremism from those blinded by racial hatred and rage at the government are serious ones as well.”

Cohen told the committee that while “our government has been willfully blind to these latter threats,” that they “have not always given these latter threats the attention they deserve.”

And here he brought up the Oklahoma City bombing. You know, where a white guy with a bomb blew up a bunch of Americans right in the heart of the United States. And he reminded them of the Justice Department’s domestic terrorism task force that was supposed to meet on 9/11 in fact, right before Muslims became the enemy of the hour.

35. White Americans are the biggest terror threat in the United States

Do you tire of being wrong? Here are still more facts for the silly conservatives to ignore or not be able to understand http://www.globalpost.com/article/6592741/2015/06/24/white-americans-are-biggest-terror-threat-united-states

White Americans are the biggest terror threat in the United States, according to a study by the New America Foundation. The Washington-based research organization did a review of “terror” attacks on US soil since Sept. 11, 2001 and found that most of them were carried out by radical anti-government groups or white supremacists.
Almost twice as many people have died in attacks by right-wing groups in America than have died in attacks by Muslim extremists. Of the 26 attacks since 9/11 that the group defined as terror, 19 were carried out by non-Muslims. Yet there are no white Americans languishing inside the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay. And there are no drones dropping bombs on gatherings of military-age males in the country's lawless border regions.
Attacks by right-wing groups get comparatively little coverage in the news media. Most people will struggle to remember the shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin that killed six people in 2012. A man who associated with neo-Nazi groups carried out that shooting. There was also the married couple in Las Vegas who walked into a pizza shop and murdered two police officers. They left a swastika on one of the bodies before killing a third person in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Such attacks are not limited to one part of the country. In 2011, two white
supremacists went on a shooting spree in the Pacific Northwest, killing four people.

Terrorism is hard to define. But here is its basic meaning: ideological violence. In its study, the New America Foundation took a narrow view of what could be considered a terror attack. Most mass shootings, for instance, like Sandy Hook or the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting — both in 2012 — weren't included. Also not included was the killing of three Muslim students in North Carolina earlier this year. The shooter was a neighbor and had strong opinions about religion. But he also had strong opinions about parking spaces and a history of anger issues. So that shooting was left off the list.

The killing of nine people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina last week was included. The shooter made it clear that his motivation was an ideological belief that white people are superior to black people. The shooting has cast new light on the issue of right-wing terrorism in the United States. But since it can't really use Special Forces or Predator drones on US soil, it remains unclear how the government will respond.
