Trump says calling Obama ISIS founder was 'sarcasm'

Donald Trump's remarks about President Obama and Hillary Clinton being the founders of a terrorist group were "sarcasm," the Republican presidential nominee said Friday.

"Ratings challenged @CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) "the founder" of ISIS, & MVP. THEY DON'T GET SARCASM?" Trump tweeted.
Trump said Wednesday night at a rally that Obama "founded" the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS.)

1. Add "sarcasm" to the list of words Trump doesn't understand

3. We agree on something.

Although I think he shouldn't have backed down from the comment.

2. Yet another example of why Trump is totally

unfit to be President. He is totally incapable of acting like an adult. He is running for the most serious job in the US Government and he continually acts like Bozo the Clown. He is a con man and a total embarrassment. I have no respect for someone who habitually lies and refuses to take responsibilty for his own actions (and words).

4. OK, so when he calls Angela Merkel a lopsided snaggletoothed...

bitch and later says it was just a joke, everything will be OK, eh?

And when he calls the Queen and PM the descendants of the losers of 200 years ago, that's all in fun.

Man, how did we sink so low to have this POS run on a major party line?

12. Trump has made international business deals before and has been successful at it.

It proves to me he is very serious in business and deal making situations.

On the other hand Hillary frightens me because of what she has already done in international matters. I do not trust her at all. All that money she has been taking from misogynist foreigners bothers me no end.

If you respond, can you do it without name calling. I’ve had enough of that for one day from another poster.

Thanks.

13. Making business deals does not indicate that he has the knowledge of foreign affairs

or the temperament necessary to negotiate with foreign leaders in areas that would involve the security of our country. His lies (pardon me, "sarcasm"), name calling and insults would not be welcome on the international stage.

14. He hasn't joked or insulted during international business matters, because he's been successful.

As far as ‘knowledge of foreign affairs’ goes. What was the extent of overseas business deals of Obama, the Bush’s, Bill Clinton etc. I do remember something about W Bush doing drugs deals in S America, but other than that?

I think he is very personable and friendly. He frequently entertains and has foreign dignitaries playing golf with him at his golf courses. He knows how to act, be civil and how to make a deal.

He has a record and so does Hillary and it’s her record that makes my blood run cold.

8. Where is the truth? Was he speaking truth in his first statement or when he walked it back?

For someone who supposedly says what he means, he has to explain that he didn't really mean it an awfully lot.

Lyin' Donald Trump.

9. He needs to stop saying stupid stuff like that.

When I saw the context, I saw he meant that his policies help lead out to ISIS being able to rise up. Pulling out of Iraq and just leaving them there was stupid.

But he needs to stop saying stupid stuff like this. The press has a holiday and he needs stop saying stupid stuff like this.

Did I mention that he needs to stop saying stupid stuff like this?

He called Obama the founder of ISIS. He said George W. Bush was at fault for 911 and I think that he lied to get us into Iraq.

If he becomes the president, he's going to learn way too well what it's like to be this harshly judged because he's going to make stupid mistakes too.

(and yes, Hillary would make stupid mistakes too. She already has as secretary of state).

10. Regardless what you think he meant, here's what he actually said:

“In many respects, you know, they honor President Obama,” Mr. Trump told a raucous and rowdy crowd in Florida on Wednesday night. “He’s the founder of ISIS. He’s the founder of ISIS. He’s the founder. He founded ISIS.” He added, “I would say the co-founder would be crooked Hillary Clinton.” During an extended riff on the crisis in Crimea, Mr. Trump added extra emphasis on the president’s full name, saying that it occurred “during the administration of Barack Hussein Obama.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/11/us/politics/trump-rally.html?_r=0

How are you going to spin that? We wasn't talking about policies, he stated that Obama is the founder if ISIS. He repeated it several times, in fact. He knows that his supporters want to hear the worst about President Obama and SOS Clinton so he give it to them. It's only after he gets caught out in his lies that he backtracks and claims he was being sarcastic or that he was misquoted.

And, yes, he needs to stop saying stupid shit like that because it is not true.

16. There was more to it than that.

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/11/gop-presidential-candidate-donald-trump.html

Asked about them, he doubled down and said " was the founder of ISIS absolutely, the way he removed our troops. ... I call them co-founders," he added, referring to his Democratic presidential opponent, Hillary Clinton.

ISIS rose to power when Obama pulled out troops. I wouldn't call Obama the founder of ISIS, but I will say ISIS is why you don't give people a few years and then pull troops out when there are still strong insurgents.

Even if you think we had no business going into the war, that doesn't mean we should leave once the system is broken. We've been in Europe and Japan for decades. Somehow, our government decided that a more stable Europe needed us more than totally unstable Iraq.

11. I don`t think it was sarcasm...Obama`s stupid `fumbling` around in the Middle East

created more chaos and anger with the radical islamic jihadis of the region.

Direct cause and effect.

17. Trump Spokeswoman Says He Was 'Very Serious' About Obama 'Founding ISIS'

Trump has retracted his retraction http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/katrina-pierson-trump-very-serious-obama-isis

Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson told MSNBC on Friday afternoon that Trump was indeed "very serious" when he said that President Barack Obama founded the Islamic State terror group.

When Pierson was first asked if Trump was being sarcastic, she replied, "yes and no."

Pressed again, she said, "He was being very serious. He was being very serious when he talked about what happened and why ISIS is here today, and it is their fault."

"No, he was not saying that President Obama personally went to the Middle East and filled out the paperwork that incorporated ISIS. That's obviously not what he's saying," she continued. "But what he is saying is that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had the intel that they needed to make decisions, particularly arming the rebels in Syria, which turned out to be ISIS, and as Gen. Flynn reports, they ignored that willingly and created ISIS."

19. BOMBSHELL: Interview Surfaces Of Trump Blaming BUSH For ISIS, Not Obama

This will be fun to watch http://occupydemocrats.com/2016/08/12/bombshell-interview-surfaces-trump-blaming-bush-isis-not-obama/

Republican nominee Donald Trump has started yet another public relations firestorm – this time by blaming President Barack Obama for the creation of Daesh (ISIS/ISIL). In a recent interview, Trump called him the “founder” of Daesh, and named Hillary Clinton as a “co-founder” of the genocidal terrorist group. When his interviewer attempted to cover for him, saying that he meant that the President created the vaccumn which allowed for the the rise of Daesh, Trump quickly set him straight: “No, I meant he’s the founder of ISIS. I do. He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton.”

Unfortunately for Trump, his record shows that he once said the exact opposite. In a 2007 CNN interview, Trump said “The war is a total disaster…there’s only one person who you can blame, and that’s our current President . Obviously Rumsfeld was a disaster, and other people that are giving him advice are a disaster.” Trump’s record on the Iraq War is about as fluid as you can get – in 2002, he was for the war; in 2007 he was against it. In 2008 he was for withdrawing our troops, and in 2016 he was against it. It’s just more evidence that Donald Trump has no concrete convictions or beliefs; that he will simply say whatever pops into his head, and everything that came before it no longer exists.
