For all you "never Trump" conservatives out there

This is long read, but worth it. I have a feeling that a lot of these conservatives who say they will never vote for Trump will come to their senses and do it anyway. They'll realize that a Hillary presidency will be disastrous for the country and their conservative values.

The Flight 93 Election
By: Publius Decius Mus
September 5, 2016

2016 is the Flight 93 election: charge the cockpit or you die. You may die anyway. You—or the leader of your party—may make it into the cockpit and not know how to fly or land the plane. There are no guarantees.

Except one: if you don’t try, death is certain. To compound the metaphor: a Hillary Clinton presidency is Russian Roulette with a semi-auto. With Trump, at least you can spin the cylinder and take your chances.

To ordinary conservative ears, this sounds histrionic. The stakes can’t be that high because they are never that high—except perhaps in the pages of Gibbon. Conservative intellectuals will insist that there has been no “end of history” and that all human outcomes are still possible. They will even—as Charles Kesler does—admit that America is in “crisis.” But how great is the crisis? Can things really be so bad if eight years of Obama can be followed by eight more of Hillary, and yet Constitutionalist conservatives can still reasonably hope for a restoration of our cherished ideals? Cruz in 2024!

1. Ironically, the people who created the bullshit fictional story of Flight 93

...seem to all be endorsing Hillary (so she can help them complete the PNAC agenda)

9. ford, i'm sure you've heard cheney admit to giving the order

i don't think it requires full mihop to think that flight 93 was shot down by a missile. the "lets roll" story, while fictional, was probably good advice for anyone so situated in the future.

18. Don't know if it's fictional

But the evidence I am familiar with is improbable. What I read is they picked up the let's roll and scuffle on the CVR.

Big problem with that is there are no microphones in the passenger compartment of the aircraft. The pilots are wired, and there is an open microphone in the cockpit.

6. "This Sounds Histrionic" Is Right

What do "some people" think is going to happen when Clinton is elected? What sort of biblical disasters will start happening? Will there be civilization destroying earthquakes, tornadoes, cyclones of every description? Are we looking at plagues of locusts? Krakens rising up out of every body of water? Will demons crawl out of every shadow to carry innocent people away?

Jeeze! Disaster movies are just movies!

Just what are those cherished conservative ideals that Constitutional conservatives hope will be restored? That's not a rhetorical question - an answer would be really nice.

13. I know right!

Bill gave us a strong economy, a fiscal surplus and worked well with his tough opposition in congress. Why would Hillary suddenly signal the four horseman of the apocalypse?

I can smell GOP desperation wafting in the air

15. Hillary is already promising to go against Bill's immigration policy

Why would she stop there? By the way, Bill did not GIVE us a strong economy, he stayed out of the way of a strong economy. Something I don't think Waddles would understand.

17. Interesting

There was no context to decipher what Trump was trying to communicate. But I know what Putin - not a war hawk in any sense, rather a conservative real politik professional - has been trying to communicate very sincerely and from his heart:

Importance of MAD - Mutually Assured Destruction. The balance of terror which kept the cold war cold, not hot.

I can assume and hope that "Nuclear, just the power, the devastation, is very important to me" is Trump speach for MAD and understanding the importance of MAD for status quo of life on Earth and not going Dr. Strangelove all the way.

Putin is extremely worried about the neocon policy of destabilizing the MAD balance, not just for the sake of Russia, but all life. Like any sane. I hope Trump is like Putin, in that respect.

From her rap sheet and neocon support and public statements, Clinton offers little such hope.

16. Didn't read the whole thing

and I don't qualify as "conservative" in the OP sense.

The first paragraph had a good metaphor, however.

Clinton warmongering with her rap sheet with Russia is Russian Roulette with semi-auto. With Trump wild card, you are at least not as certain to end up with nuclear holocaust.

I don't know nothing for sure. Maybe one inna million chance could be would be better for our cultural evolution. Better than five to six. But I assume the inner conservative in each of us, cautios, little scared, feels more comfy with the five to six.
