Oh, Say, Does That Star-Spangled Banner Yet Wave? (I wish I'd written this)

Oh, Say, Does That Star-Spangled Banner Yet Wave?

Friday evening I took my Stars and Stripes in from the front porch as I do every night, but everything felt different and each movement was conscious as I realized I might not put it out again.

Yesterday morning I came to some sad clarity as I thought through the Pledge of Allegiance:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,

…and to the Republic for which it stands:

unfortunately, the Republic for which it stands is in tatters – separation of powers only an ideal; representative government a Potemkin facade; We, the People…just a memory

…one nation:

hardly, having been thoroughly Balkanized by the ruling class whose goal is buttressed by minimal and selective enforcement of immigration laws

...under God:

Not.

By the way, it was In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, (that) President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words “under God,” creating the 31-word pledge we say today. (I don’t remember the White House being lit up with crosses the following day)

...indivisible:

that which was thus described no longer exists as such. Its Constitution is no longer a practical reference. Its history is being dismantled. Its foundations are untended – and that doesn’t matter as much as we might think since there is little left for them to support

…with liberty and justice for all:

except for non-minorities, the Baltimore Six, officers who are drummed out of the military because they serve faithfully according to their oaths, American employees made to train their foreign replacements, anyone targeted by the IRS, etc.

2. I am drinking up those sweet tears, the ones of the bigots who lost and are crying

"Why, 'murica is letting people who ain't like me get married! It's the end of the country as we know it!"

So much crying over something which won't impact anyone but the people who get married.

People have been claiming the end times are here for over 2000 years. They have said Iran will have a nuke in a month for decades. Among those and many, many, other things you can add 'the country will be destroyed by gay marriage'.

And then when you ask someone to explain how.....well, you won't get an answer.

American employees made to train their foreign replacements - how can conservatives complain about that? They love that. It means companies make more profit for the few, and that is more important than America and it's people. It's money, no way will you ever, in all your life, hear a conservative say patriotism and this country are more important than money. It goes to the core of their brand of capitalism. Money, little pieces of green paper, trump the people of the US. Every time.

3. Too bad it wasn't the star spangled banner he said the pledge to.

Personally, I like a good fruity Port Wine & Brie on a Triscuit™ to go along w/ bigoted GOP tears.

Tears, in general, are kind of salty. However, these are not sweet. They're bitter.

4. That's a good one, buddy. America died last week with TPP, SCOTUSCARE and the end of marriage as

a revered institution and the setting aside of God. My flag will remain in the closet forever, never to be flown again. America was a great country for a long, long time. I fought for it once years ago, but never will again. I was proud of it once, but that pride is now tarnished beyond repair. I'll never abandon God. Although America is gone, the United States is still stumbling along with no recovery in sight. Its final denouement is very near. You can almost hear the drums.

Take her easy, Gunslinger.

5. It's hard to refute the first couple of paragraphs since

they are so utterly filled with babble that it's hard to figure out what the author is talking about, so I'll start here:

'...under God:

Not.

By the way, it was In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, (that) President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words “under God,” creating the 31-word pledge we say today. (I don’t remember the White House being lit up with crosses the following day)'

The White House wasn't lit up with crosses because we have a separation of church and state, not a separation of state and gay.

"...indivisible:

that which was thus described no longer exists as such. Its Constitution is no longer a practical reference. Its history is being dismantled. Its foundations are untended – and that doesn’t matter as much as we might think since there is little left for them to support."

I would think the two most recent Supreme Court decisions, ACA and Marriage Equality, would further unite us as one country. Making sure our citizens health is a priority, and allowing American citizens to marry the person of their choice seems like the very definition of indivisible, in other words uniting us instead of dividing us.

Could the author please elaborate on just how our Constitution is being dismantled? The last I checked, the very fact that he could write this tripe and not be thrown in jail speaks to the very foundation of our Constitution.

"…with liberty and justice for all:

except for non-minorities, the Baltimore Six, officers who are drummed out of the military because they serve faithfully according to their oaths, American employees made to train their foreign replacements, anyone targeted by the IRS, etc."

How are non minorities being denied liberty and justice? Both minorities and non-minorities have the same protections under our Constitution. In this country everyone is guaranteed the same rights under the law. Just because some guy is pissed that he doesn't get to push other people around hardly denies him liberty or justice. If he is angry because he has to train his foreign replacement, he needs to take that up with his company and his state legislators who passed "Right to Work" laws that allow him to be fired for any reason or no reason at all. As for the IRS, we all have to pay our taxes like it or not. If you don't want to be targeted, pay your damned taxes!

6. Haha, maybe the author will finally, one day,

Come to terms with their "gayness." One the other hand, they still have thier guns they can cling on too. I took my flag down the day bush was selected.

16. No, you've heard nothing--How much history have you studied? How many religious rebellions

(pro or anti) have you seen? How many times have you seen less than 4 per cent of the population set the rules or tone for the rest? And have that decision(s) be made by 9 non-elected lawyers? It's all just percolating now. Next comes the fun. Actually, it's already starting.

19. The truthfulness of your post can be measured in the mindless derision that is heaped upon it

by the chattering "progressives."

One has only to observe the societal decay wrought in the 4-5 decades by the self-appointed enlightened among us, then project it forward another half-century on its current course to see the problem.

But as long as the welfare checks are flowing, the politically incorrect flags are coming down, and Bruce and Warren are giving the wedding planning industry a boost, "Laissez les bon temps rouler!"

Amirite?
