Taking groups of kids from house to house on Halloween is trying

Might I suggest my solution for the past 14 years I have lived here.

Get a bottle or tow of good Bourbon, or in my case a bottle of Bourbon and a bottle of Scotch. Give the kids their candy, and express you sympathy and understanding to the adults and offer a shot.

Needless to say our house is very popular.

1. My little town has a solution also...

This year we had our first "Trunk or Treat" event. What happens is people meet in a church parking lot, decorate the trunks of their cars, and hand out candy and stuff to kids who show up. No doorbell ringing. No shlepping from house to house.

We'll have to see if the town teenagers keep to their yearly tradition of decorating the main drag with toilet paper...trees, telephone wires, etc.
