Twitter Blocks Gun Supporter, But Allows Death Threats Against Her

Kaitlin Bennett, grassroots director of conservative group Liberty Hangout, recent graduate of Kent State University, and outspoken Second Amendment rights activist, made a name for herself on social media by taking a visual pro-gun stance during the liberal brouhaha of March For Our Lives. Weeks ago, Bennett generated buzz for herself and the pro-gun cause by posting a picture of herself in graduation attire while holding an AR-10 rifle.

But it was Bennett’s next move that prompted Twitter to pick a side, something it shouldn’t have done if it wants to promote an environment of free speech.

On Wednesday, Bennett posted a photo of herself on Twitter, facing away from the camera and holding two pistols. The caption stated, “If I had a pistol for every gender there is.” It was a clever and lighthearted jab at both rabid gun prohibitionists and the contentious non-binary community – at least that’s what conservative folks thought. However, the next morning, Kaitlin realized that the social justice arbiters at Twitter found it a bit more serious than that.

Twitter pulled the photo and barred Bennett from posting to the social media site for 12 hours, citing the post as “violating our rules against abusive behavior.” Even though that sounds fishy, maybe Twitter was just making a case against speech that is harmful to families and victims of recent shootings and defending the LGBTQ community. Maybe?

Well, the fact that Bennett is receiving unmitigated death threats from strangers all over social media since posting her first pro-gun photo shows something more sinister on the part of Twitter. While she received a cease and desist petition from the social media platform, the accounts that send her death threats on a daily basis received no condemnation or oversight from Twitter at all.

Messages sent to her, such as “Take that gun off your hip, put it to your head, then squeeze,” “Imma smoke yo ass bitch,” or “F-ck you, you ramen noodle-haired, lipless blue-waffled c--t bag,” don’t seem to be considered by Twitter as “abusive behavior in an attempt to harass, intimidate, or silence one’s voice.” But a political opinion different from that of the progressive mob? Sound the alarm.

They're going to run out of ground fertile for doublestandards.

2. Google too

Google is labeling a Trump-supporting Republican state senator a “BIGOT“

Trudy Wade is a Republican state senator from North Carolina and an enthusiastic supporter of President Trump.

But if you search “Trudy Wade” on Google, the search giant displays an old photo in the “knowledge panel” of its search results with “BIGOT” superimposed in big red letters.

It's just the latest example of Google not vetting the information that gets pulled into its “knowledge panels,” which are meant to give users quick information without them having to click through search results (often on other, non-Google websites).

If Trump is not allowed to block followers then these Companies must be fair and even handed to all legitimate ideologies (obviously not ISIS or MS-13 etc)

5. Of course they don't vet those results.

There are _literally_ tens of millions of such results being displayed every minute, worldwide. They're determined algorithmically; a human only enters into the equation when something gets flagged or reported. That's what happened in this situation, and Google immediately rectified the situation and apologized. Attributing what happened to some sort of nefarious political intent on Google's part is just silly..

9. Coincidentally Google's algorithm made the mistake

of associating California Republicans with Nazism.

But hey that's only two examples in the last week. If there is a third (and there will be), we have enemy action.

7. Sounds like a good way to die.

Threatening someone who likes to carry around an AR-10 and handguns. If they try to carry out those threats, she will put them six feet under.

She doesn't appear to have any real training or experience with them

13. School shooters have no training either, but still manage to make shots.

It would be very dumb to try busting into a home of a known gun owner to do them harm. Training or none, all she needs is to have her guns near and start shooting.

10. She borrowed the guns for the photo shoot from her BNL

She's a social media spinner. She's earned a minute of fame. I'm pro-gun, but I fail to see anything positive in her hollow grandstanding.

I'm not a fan per se. I think she's a parot I'm pretty sure she really doesn't know a lot about the guns she's posing with AND I think she's trying to parlay her 15 minutes of fame into a cushy job on Fox and Friends but she's NOT ugly

22. I don't get either.

People who use them to tell everyone what they had for lunch, where they ate, who they ate it with, where they live, their kids names, photos of the house, family and dog, but want their privacy protected.

And why would anyone think either platform hasn't always leaned far left? I can see why liberals would want to continue using them, but moderates, independents, conservatives should have figured out which way the wind blew a long time ago.
