Godfather 3

Watched the much maligned godfather 3 for the first time in a long time. The ending from the start of the opera to the last scene was masterful. Worth a relook at if you haven't seen it in awhile.

1. You know, I must have seen it but I don't remember anything about it

Godfather 2 overshadowed the others to such an extent that it’s the only one I remember well.

2. I was the same way

And most of 3 is forgettable. It's on Netflix if you want to check it out...

7. good topic. sequels that were better than the first.

Godfather 2 would absolutely top that list.

3. I think they should have let it go after The Godfather

Which was very true to the book.

Puzo wrote a book called "The Last Don" about A Mafia family going straight but it wasn't the Corleones

He also wrote a book called "The Sicilian" that went into greater detail on Michael's time in Sicily but it didn't do anything to advance "The Godfather" story.

9. The Sicillian or The Last Don?

The Godfather was great, The Sicillian was good and (IMO) it went down hill from there.

in comparison to The Godfather which was a great book

5. Didn't much

care for the third one when I first saw it, but a few months ago I happened to watch all three movies in a row and liked #3 a bit more.

It takes a bit to piece together all the details so they make sense, which for me is hard to do with a movie, as opposed to a book that I can reread passages of until I fully get what's going on.

All things considered, though...the entire Godfather series is a classic, worth watching again and again.

IMO

11. I agree for the most part...

I think there were just two movies that I liked as much as the books...

One was "The Last Convertible" and the other was "The Perfect Storm"

My problem with movies vs books is that if I've read the book first, I have imagined how the characters look, then I see the movie and they don't even look like what I imagined and I'm disappointed.

12. The only movie that I am certain was better than the book

Was Blade Runner/ Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

and even then the "Final Director's Cut" ruined the movie

6. ok. generally i enjoy you posting nutty ops. you are good for moral.

but this is a step too far. one more word about how 3 (i will not dignify it by saying the full title) is worth a second look and i shall banish you to my ignore list and you will languish there as the SOLE occupant.

14. Part 3 grows on you.

I can never reconcile how Connie becomes involved in the business though. She hates Michael because he killed her husband. It's a big leap from 2 to 3 with her role in the business.

17. As you recall Connie reconciled

With Michael in part 2 after the mother died. BTW, all 3 are on Netflix now...

20. I did artillery for 15 years and it ruined me for any kind of heavy metal

Any kind of high pitch sounds gives me instant migraine.

I listen to The Wall on my Kenwood (as opposed to some cheesy little MP3 player) stereo about 6 months ago stereo about 6 months ago and it sounded like it iwas being played underwater in the Next Room
