LBJ: the movie

While sitting around waiting for the usual tiresome tedious outrage d'jure for the other side to boil over, I watched Rob Reiner's "LBJ."

I will be upfront and admit that Johnson was the best Democrat president in my lifetime; as a Republican, I always preferred those from my party, but as a president from the other side, Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, and certainly not Obama, couldn't hold a candle to Lyndon Johnson.

Kennedy promised, Johnson delivered. I wonder how many Johnson haters remember that.

The movie seemed more than reasonably accurate, although it kind of sugar-coated the authoritarian dictatorial control freak Bobby Kennedy, whose attitudes and behavior apparently were the model for the contemporary snobbish effete smarter-than-thou holier-than-thou arrogant pompous know-it-all lorgnette-and-pearls crowd here.

I dunno why Bobby was so popular; surely his nasty egoism should've been a turn-off for civilized people.

1. Ive been mulling over watching it.

Maybe I will just to see if it portrays his character accurately in regards to his contemptible racism and also his crude and crass demeanor.

Then again, I’m full up on wanting to know more about the shitty past of Democrats.

2. LBJ gave us the Gulf of Tonkin Incident and Resolution.

That shit fucked up the country for a generation. I know... one of my heroes (Uncle Don) lost his life, and another (Uncle Sonny) lost his soul.

Before The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was repealed, LBJ laughed "Hell, those boys could have been shootin' at WHALES out there for all I know! (GUFFAW)"

4. Another LBJ quote

"I’ll Have Those N*****s Voting Democratic for the next 200 Years"
(Lyndon B. Johnson to two governors on Air Force One according Ronald Kessler's Book, "Inside The White House")
