honest question

A young Arab boy asks his father “What is that strange hat you are wearing?”

The father said: “Why, my son, it is a ‘chechia.’ In the desert it protects our heads from the intense heat of the sun.”

“And what is the long flowing robe you are wearing?” asked the boy.

“Oh, my son!” exclaimed the father “It is very simple. This is a ‘djbellah.’ As I have told you, in the desert it is not only very hot, but the sand is always blowing. My djbellah protects the entire Body.

The son then asked: “But Father, what about those ugly shoes you have on your feet?”

“These are ‘babouches’ my son,” the father replied. You must understand that although the desert sands are very beautiful, they are also extremely hot. These babouches’ keep us from burning our feet.”

“So tell me then,” added the boy.

“Yes, my son…”

“Why are you living in Minnesota and still wearing all this shit?

10. "......that was funny......"

You know, it's a free country and all that, and so generally usually most of the time one's free to wear whatever sorts of clothing one wishes to wear. And not being a judgemental person, I'm not about to criticize anybody who dresses unconventionally.

But still, I wonder. After all, those who emigrated here from the Netherlands found it convenient to discard their wooden shoes, and those who emigrated here from Scotland, their kilts, for attire more suitable, more comfortable, for this time and place.

11. Are you sure about that?

“Men and women of Scottish descent have played an important role in the history and development of the Lone Star State… I encourage all Texans to recognize the contributions that Scottish-Texans have made and continue to make to the economic, social and cultural well-being of our state.” – Governor George W. Bush, 1999

13. I agree with you that individuals are free to choose their clothing styles.

It's the universal generation gap that's made me laugh, that's what's humorous.

Immersion and assimilation into a new culture is embraced by the youngsters faster than the adults.

It's the adults who decided to make the move to a free country to insure their family survives.

But, it's the adults who hold on to their native culture for themselves and their children's heritage.

The younger generation is now, this moment, questioning their place in comparison to their parent's role.

Native born children are the same way. Why is it this way? Human nature.
