Want fewer abortions? Be like Canada

Canada has no abortion law and the abortion rate is lower than the United States.

Countries with stricter abortion laws have higher abortion rates. Countries with stricter abortion laws also have the highest rates of abortion. Easier access to birth control drives down abortion rates.

12. No it isn't

there is no way to decriminalize abortion or birth control because both are legal.

The subject of this thread is....

If you want fewer abortions, make birth control more accessible. And possibly even free.

Free, easily accessible birth control = less need or desire for abortions. See how that works?

14. First, the noose is tightening on unrestricted abortion.

Second, birth control is not restricted.

Third, THOTs still have to use it.

Fourth, the premise of the OP is: the legality of abortion lowers the demand for abortion.

Fine, by that argument the legality of rape lowers the number of investigations, prosecutions, and incarcerations for rape. A time and cost savings all around.

27. Noose tightening on unrestricted abortion....

Oh, and I guess that makes all the "Pro Life" people just sooooo happy knowing that if abortion is made illegal, there will never be another one again, ever. Right?

Birth control is restricted in the sense that many employers refuse to pay for it via insurance. And if women have to pay extra to access it, they'll not use it.

And no...the premise of the OP is NOT that the legality of abortion lowers the need for it. The premise is, the more easily women can access it without having to shell out extra money that could go toward other things, the more they will use it and THAT is what would lower the need for abortion.

and introducing rape into this discussion is just nonsense. We are not talking about LEGALITY of abortion. We are talking about how difficult or easy birth control is for women to get.

37. ...

"Oh, and I guess that makes all the "Pro Life" people just sooooo happy knowing that if abortion is made illegal, there will never be another one again, ever. Right?"

The underlying assumption is that those who break the law will be prosecuted under the law.

Do you think gun control means no more guns?

"Birth control is restricted in the sense that many employers refuse to pay for it via insurance."

JFC do you infants need your employer to buy your food and wipe your asses too? Act like goddam adults and prioritize your fucking life choices and then live with the consequences.

I swear you aren't fit for freedom.

"The premise is, the more easily women can access it without having to shell out extra money that could go toward other things, the more they will use it and THAT is what would lower the need for abortion."

Liar. She literally wrote:

"Easier access to birth control drives down abortion rates."

"We are talking about how difficult or easy birth control is for women to get."

Before ObumbleCare the chick was paying $10/month.

So far lefty has resisted all efforts to have birth control rescheduled to a non prescription drug. So spare us that lie as well.

38. What the hell is wrong with people?

Is FOOD restricted?

"Birth control is restricted in the sense that many employers refuse to pay for it via insurance. And if women have to pay extra to access it, they'll not use it."

So employers should pay for peoples food? Food is NOT a choice people have to eat for survival.

And again...

"And no...the premise of the OP is NOT that the legality of abortion lowers the need for it."

Sorry. The second line in the OP says you are wrong.

So what else should we give people for free to stop our problems? Housing? How does that work out in the inner cities?

Giving shit to people for free does not fix problems, personal responsibility fixes problems.

29. No I don't but

one would think that if abortion were THAT troublesome to righties, they would do whatever they could to make it unnecessary, including making birth control free to women who can't afford it

Believe it or not, there ARE women who work who cannot afford certain things. If we subsidize birth control to poor women, it could take care of much of the "problem" of abortion.

That's providing righty really cares about lessening the need for it rather than sitting around doing nothing but complaining

What else could we make more legal and as a result people would do it less?

Nothing.

Oh and as to the suggestion to keep legs closed, tell the guys to keep their peckers in their pants.

Gets real old to see "baby daddies" with multiple kids from multiple women, and I'm not even talking about any particular culture. There are disgusting "baby daddies" in nearly all areas of American society. Running around impregnating women like dogs.

32. What does it matter how many

married couples choose abortion?

Is abortion going to be more acceptable if it's "only" 10%? Or 5%?

What is the goal here by righty? To end ALL abortions, or just some of them, and that will be acceptable when the numbers of "murdered children" are fewer than they are now? Dead babies are dead babies, whether it's a million or whether it's "only" a thousand or less.

No, the "stupid hos" are the men who act like dogs.

One of my fondest wishes would be to see every female on this planet refuse to have sex with men who don't respect them. You guys want to call them "hos"? Which is really only a euphemism for "whore", BTW. Great. Call women you all have sex with "whores" and go get sex from barnyard animals and rubber blowup dolls instead.

"No, the "stupid hos" are the men who act like dogs."

Unless she was raped she was literally asking for it. If she wants adult choices she has to assume adult responsibilities. If she can't maybe the patriarchy needs to manage the waif.

Sperm causes all pregnancies. Men can also stop all abortions by using condoms every time or getting vasectomies.

Thats what FREEDOM is about.

However with choice comes responsibility. When you CHOOSE to do anything there are potential consequences.

When you cross the street you could get hit by a car. So your idea is to NOT look both ways and make it someone else's problem when you get hit by a car.

Most of the left seems to forget that part.

If they don't want to support the kids they make, they should be sterilized. That right there would take care of a lot of the problem.

Even as the U.S. abortion rate is at its lowest since Roe v. Wade, women of color are five times as likely to terminate a pregnancy as their white counterparts.
